The tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. people should know something about what they are asking.
Once people knew what Evil was they can't seem to keep from doing it which is why God did not want people to know about Evil.

The only knowledge there was to be gained from eating the fruit, were all the things that resulted in the evil we see in the world today. In the Garden of Eden, everyone was happy and got along, even the animals got along with each other, they were all vegetarians. After being cast out of the Garden for gaining this so-called "knowledge" they started eating other animals. And humanity plummeted from there. Maybe some people enjoy the disease, famine and war that go on in the world today, but I'd rather we were without them. They did not exist until after Adam and Eve ate of the fruit. Before was utopia and we could still have it if it weren't for them! Not to mention painless childbirth! Thanks a lot, Eve....

Before there was matter, there was consciousness. We were at one with god and as god. Anyone wishing to individualize himself was allowed to, but there was a down side: Life on Earth in a human body; "knowledge" = death. The story since Atom and Eve/nt Horizon has been about getting back to the unified state. I'm glad that you so thoroughly luxuriate in your fleshly incarnation, and from the sound of it, a robustly heterosexual one.

When was the last time God forbid you to do this?
I think you should change transmitters and receivers, you are getting a garbled message from somewhere.
It does not mean knowledge literally, it is a metaphor for a practice, which does not promote procreation.
You likely do is already, and you are not aware of it. Study up.

I think it was becasue God loved us that he didn't want us to eat from the tree. While he gave us free will, he kept us from knowing evil. When Adam and Eve ate from that tree, they knew what evil was. God tried to keep humans from sinning so that we could lead better lives, much as a mother tries to protect her kids from pornography, profanity, and drugs. God was trying to keep us on a good path that would help us to completely fulfil our lives.

Adam and Eve were VERY smart and VERY knowledgeable. Think about it, Adam personally named EVERY animal, EVERY sea creature, EVERY bird, EVERY tree, EVERY flower, EVERY grass, EVERY plant and they both remembered their names.
Adam and Eve were by no means ignorant nor idiots.
The Tree of Knowledge held all the negative and evil things to be found on and under the earth that Adam and Eve did not know about. God did NOT want them exposed to negative and to evil.

Because God was a nasty old man sitting in the bushes scribbling on some scrolls that he hoped to sell later to the unwary and gullible.

My question has always been, if he didn't want the fruit touched, he should have built a fence around that tree -- or made the fruit full of sharp spines or not planted it there at all. You ever put a plate of brownies out and tell people not to touch them?
The story's a crock anyway.

The knowledge of good and evil, we were thrown out of paradise because Satan deceived and lied to the woman and caused her to commit the first sin.
And condemned the world by this action!!
You sir, are an idiot!!
