Today he looks like he doesn't feel well. He is just laying around and not eating. Can this be a reaction from the shot?

Your cat's lethargy isn't a reaction to the rabies or the distemper shot. It's normal for them to run a low grade fever for about 24 hours after taking it. In cats, just as in people, a low grade fever makes them feel bad for a while. Don't worry, when the fever subsides, he'll be up and eating again. If he hasn't eaten anything in 2 days from the date he took the shot, which in your case would be tomorrow afternoon, call the vet for advice. I'm betting he's going to awake tomorrow as hungry as a bear. A little bit of spoiling won't hurt either.

The rabies vaccination is notorious for causing this type of reaction in a cat. The fact that it was combined with the distemper shot just makes it worse.

He will probably "pick up" tomorrow and feel much better. It won't hurt him to fast for 24 hours.

In the future do not give two vaccinations at one time. Even though it means another trip it is much better to space vaccines at least three weeks to a month apart. Also the distemper vaccine doesn't need to be given every year - if at all after the kitten series and maybe one booster.

Yes, that's probably what it is. Some pets have close to no reaction, but some need a few days to get over it.

If he has not improved by tomorrow night, you may want to take him back to the vet the next morning, or call them at the very least. Just keep a close eye on him and make sure he is not getting worse.

Yes this is a reaction to the shot and actually quite normal. If it continues more than 24 hours call your vet.

Yes, just like with babies they may not feel well after getting vaccines. This is quite normal. As long as he is better by tomorrow and is eating and drinking he should be fine. Next time he is due for boosters, try to split them about a week or two apart. If he's not better by tomorrow, he may be running a fever and need vet care.

Yes - especially the Rabies shot. Just keep a watch on him and call your vet if he gets any worse. Chances are he will feel a lot better tomorrow.

Since a vaccine triggers immune response your cat may be under the weather for up to 48 hours. If there is no improvement after 48 hours call your vet.
I am sure she will be back to herself in no time!

It is nothing...my kitten just had his rabies shot a week ago and the next day he slept all day which wasn't normal for him...but then the following day he was fine and back to normal.

It could be. I would call the vet and ask.
