forgiving others of their sins?

Every Christian Church I have visited do it this way:

Get saved by believing Jesus died for you,

then you can study how Jesus told you to get saved by your conduct.

How about this: the word 'for' in your question can be interchanged with 'because of'. If anyone doesn't believe that, look up 'for' in a dictionary. Personally I won't dump all my 'sins' on Jesus, or anyone else, because that is not what I would want anyone to do to me! Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this!
God was explicit in the OT and He started swearing about this very subject! He repeats Himself THREE TIMES for emphasis! As shown below, God does say that people can and did deliver their souls BY THEIR RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Forgiveness of others is more benificial to you than to them...hatred, stress, and the likes are proven to be bad for your health...and WE ARE NOT SAVED BY OUR CONDUCT...if every church that you've been to is preaching that, then you need to get in a good BIBLE based church. The Bible is VERY clear that the GIFT of salvation is free and Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins and even our righteousness is as filthy rags...we can DO NOTHING to be saved other than accept the gift!!!!!! Our behaviors then should reflect that heart change.

Jesus taught we were to repent (turn from our sins) and believe the good news. (Mark 1:15)

If you REALLY believe, it will totally change your life. You will daily follow after Jesus seeking to be more and more like him. You are not saved because of your conduct but rather your conduct will change because you become saved.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Acts 3:19

Jesus NEVER taught Christians, as there were NONE DURING HIS EARTHLY LIFE. His teaching was ALL directed to Jews LIVING UNDER THE LAW.

As for conduct, NO ONE can be saved based on THEIR ACTIONS.

By the way, BELIEF IS NOT ENOUGH, those who teach that do not understand the truth and have been deluded by false teachings.

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who do what my Father in heaven wants will enter.

James 2:19 You believe there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that. And they tremble!

the key in good church doctrine =salvation is the key-the rest is to live sanctified-righteously

your conduct is to live in the approval of Jesus -salvation is once and for all times in a persons life=thjis is how i got saved and the joy of living right =this is how I as a Jew came to know Jesus personally

"Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

the answer is still in the salvation of the soul-till then we are on the outside looking in. Revelation 22 "Do not add to my word or take from it or you will receieve plagues, and never find salvation.

this is how I got salvation-believing the Word of God="I love you, and ask you to repent of your sins (even one lie) quickly. Behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you hear my words and ask me in, I will come in and be your friend." Revelation 1:1=Jesus words spoken from heaven & 3:19&20

so i prayed "Jesus I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."

Now Jesus is my Messiah, Bright and morning star, best friend, and savior, he comforts and keeps me, and His word has become the love letter of my life in Spirit and in truth.

Praying the best for you too, David yes there are some churches that do believe you have to earn your salvation-which does make the idea of getting saved and then learning how to get saved confusing.

You are not just saved because Jesus died for your sins. That's just one part of the puzzle.

You are saved because one is baptized in water, filled with the Holy Spirit and walks according to the way of the gospel.

Conduct is not the operative word but rather faith. We cannot win God's favor by our conduct. We are not justified by works but rather by faith.

Faith in Jesus will push you to do whatever it takes to remain in his favor. That includes to love your neighbor as yourself. If you love someone then you must be able to forgive them.

God bless.

Your conduct does not save you.

However, if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, then you will want to show love for Him by doing as He taught. Also, you want to help others learn of the good news of Salvation.

Good works do not save us. They are a response to our gratitude for being saved.

God Bless!

Jesus paid for our sins ON THE CONDITION that we repent of them, live as he taught us to live, and try NOT to sin any more. Many people believe that professing a simple belief in Christ saves them, but not so. Christ and his apostles all taught that FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. You are only saved if you are righteous, whether or not you believe in Christ. Lots of evil people, including Satan, believe in Christ. That doesn't mean they follow him.

The resurrection is Christ's gift to all of us, evil or not. But we should not mix up that free gift with the gift of "being saved" which is NOT free. It must be earned.

Pelagius was right, and Augustine erred by listening to Jerome instead of to him. The directive "be ye perfect" implies that each of us has, within himself, the ability to grow in grace towards perfection.

Salvation is a do-it-yourself job. Nobody is going to save you if you fail to treasure your own salvation. Imagining that your salvation has to be handed to you like a welfare check from a great social worker in the sky is a major league cop-out.

You are acting as if there is a contradiction. There isn't. We are saved by grace alone - salvation by Jesus Christ. We are not saved by works. Jesus showed and told us how to live our lives NOT how to be saved by conduct.
