The justice of the peace isnt going to check your credit. You can still get married. Pay your bills on time and at least the minimum from now on. Every few months ask for a credit lne increase. Then when your wedding is closer you can put some of the expenses on yor card. But please also save some money to keep your credit used low compared to your credit available.

If the one credit card is the only ding in your credit, it shouldn't be too bad. You can request a free credit report from each of the 3 major credit reporting companies out there: Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax. Go to their websites and request a copy of your credit report. You will also have to make arrangements to pay back your credit card for the total amount in arrears - or pay off the balance. If your credit card account hasn't been closed and turned over to a collection agency, you can improve your credit by keeping the account active, and only charging as much per month as you can afford to pay in full each month. Or open a secured credit card - which you pay in advance (Orchard Bank is a good place to get such a card). You will need to gradually build your credit in order to qualify to buy a house some day - if you are getting married, your credit will affect your spouse's credit as well.

Your bill is probably closer to $700.00 now with the late fees and finance fees. Talk to a customer representative from the credit card company, explain( nicely) what you believed and did and ask them what they want you to do to fix this. They might not put it to the credit bureaus if you agree to pay the bill in full immediately. Ask to speak to a supervisor, they have more authority to fix things like that. And yes, this is the time to grovel. Good luck! It's not the end of the world and you can still get married but clear up this matter first.

You need to start paying your bill now! Creditors usually look at your last 6 months of activity, so you should be ok by your wedding day.
Not to be mean, but if you are about to get married, you have to make sure you can take the responsibility. Paying your bills is a start. It's good that you are finally looking into things.
Good luck with everything!!

Don't get married until you mature. You will have a huge amount of late fees now, pay them off then learn to read what you agree to. They sent you bills didn't you even look at them?
You aren't anywhere near ready to take on grown up things like marriage and buying houses. Wait a bit and try to learn about credit and debt. Pay off your debt and in 7 years your credit will improve.
I can't believe you never in 22 years heard things like minimum payment said about credit cards and didn't know you have to read your mail from creditors.

First of all, you can still get married. By not making the monthly payments on time your credit bureau report will show that. To begin repairing your bad credit you need to make all your monthly payments on time from now on. Bring your credit card up to date as soon as possible. As time goes by and you develop a track record of making regular, on-time payments, this event will become less significant. Best of luck to you. http://mightymortgages.com
