I love Sun tea. But remember all foods, including water that is stored at room tempature will grow bacteria.
Since you do not boil sun tea, you will not kill anything that may grow in it. It's water sitting in the Sun for several hours. A great place for things to grow!
Refigeration will only slow the growth of bacteria. It will not kill it.
It is really best to use sun tea within a few hours of when you make it.

No more than a day or two. Make it in amounts that you can use daily is best.
Instead of sun tea, I take the tea, put it in hot water in whatever container you use for tea, and put it in the fridge, by the time the water is cold, the tea is ready.

Making sturdy tea is a ingredient of four issues: the tea, the water, the temperature and the time. the way I make that's to boil a quart of water that has long gone through a brita pitcher. Open 5 teabags (Salada or Lipton are my everyday teas) and positioned them in a 40 8 oz..pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea and enable steep for 3 minutes. get rid of the tea luggage and don't squeeze them. See, in case you over extract or squeeze out the final water, you get bitter flavors. Then fill the pitcher with chilly brita water. enable cool to room temperature and refrigerate. Serve over ice. i like it straight forward or with lemon. in case you prefer to serve it candy, make a sprint straight forward syrup out of fifty% water and 50% table sugar (warmth to a boil and verify all the sugar dissolves, then cool and shop in refrigerator). Sugar would not dissolve quite in chilly drinks, for this reason the syrup.

I make sun tea in the morning. I drink it in the afternoon. I usually make the right amount. If there is any left over I feed it to my rose bush. And make fresh again in the morning.
It tastes stale to me even if I put it in the frig over night.

You actually shouldn't make sun tea at all, its dangerous. The bacteria that grow in it have recently killed people.

i usually leave mine out in the sun all day...then i let it cool down for a few hours before putting it in the fridge. You are good for at least 10-12 hours.

drop a few ice cubes into the ice tea every 30min and you'll be able to keep it for 2 to 3hrs or so.
