The New Beetles come with blumenvasen (or budvases) as standard equipment. By all means, not all ppl put flowers in there. Many have lolipops, pixie sticks, or even roach clips in theirs. It's a unique feature, and a lot of owners like that link to hippie tradition. Sorry that it 'dirves you crazy.'
Seems you have a pretty low treshold for 'crazy.'

Yes, all answers concerning "flower power" and the 60's are true. I will also add that when Volkswagen first introduced the "new" beetle as a concept car, all who inquired to Volkswagen as to weather they would build it and when received a free vase from Volkswagen for their interest. I actually placed a pen in my vase so i always knew where it was, its just something to make everyone wonder what it is...and it still does...novelty.

Not all do, but the reason why some people do is because of the flower power movement of the seventies. When there were a lot of beetles and buses around. Its symbolic of a slice of our history. So don't make it drive you insane smart girl.

I own a beetle, and they come equipped with a flower vase. But, I don`t put flowers in mine, but I do have a cute silver skull with pink stone eyes hanging from my rearview mirror.

That was common back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I am surprised you are seeing it today. The people who did it back then believe in peace. And were against the Vietnam war.
