You're kidding, right? This is America. They're collecting checks from insurance companies, not healing the sick.

Seeing a patient is NOT work - it is helping someone with his/her sickness, if there is monetary benefit - then it's just a bonus (this is an oath each doctor learned in medical school)
You may not know it, but there are a LOT of patients here on yahoo answers, who are concerned and inquisitive about their health (but are just shy or afraid to ask their doctors first hand).
I am here as a doctor to guide them where to look or give my opinion, its my way of helping the asker, and others in the future who may have the same question.

Although they are always on call, they do have a life and a family. They are here to share some of their knowledge and help out. But not all of the people in the science/medicine questions are doctors, some are nurses, chiropractors, DO, pharmacists, students in those areas, and more... I am not a doctor, but I'm a Pharmacy student.

Doctors are allowed days off. Some are on call, some are not. It just depends on what you are.

Every now and then they let us out to play.
Believe it or not, I also do things like mow the fields, help my kids with homework, create my podcasts and (once in a blue moon) cook dinner.
