I really want to lose weight. To start out with, I'm 14, 5'4", and 140 pounds. About 4-5 months ago, I weighed 128-131) I wanted to get my weight down, so I started doing a 2 mile excercise video called "Walk Away the Pounds" by Leslie Sansone and Level's 1 & 2 on The Abs Video called "Get Fit Fast" by Denise Austin each once a day, for about 4 or 5 days in a row. I stopped because then track started up so I wasn't really able to do the videos. Anyways, after the last day I did it, I weighed about 137 pounds. I was shocked but then my mom told me that I was just building muscle and that if I kept excercising, then my weight would go back down. Well, when school let out, I told myself, 'I really want to lose weight and summer is the perfect time to do it'. well, the problem is, is I want to lose weight, but whenever I tell myself, okay, I'll go run a mile later, then later gets here and I won't feel like running a mile. I guess I just want to lose weight fast yet healthy. any advice?

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body- 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Hi! I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and in my life food and exercise are what I need!
OK! You need Protein! Protein is a substance that is in Meats and beans! The protein turns into Amino Acids which is great for the body! AND GIVES YOU ENERGY! Protein gives about no carbs sugars or calories! Also you can't just eat Protein you have to have a certain amount of food to eat at each meal! You should learn how to read carb choices so what I do is
Breakfast 3 carb choices
Snack 1-2 carb choices
Lunch 4-5 carb choices
Snack 2-3 carb choices
Dinner 4-5 carb choices
Snack 1-2 carb choices
It is a little different for everybody I am the exacter same size as you and I love to eat! And protein is NO carb choices! So a carb choices is 15 carbohydrates you can find it on all food labels in the middle!
Carbohydrates = Carb choices
15 =1
30 =2
45 =3
and so on! Also stay away from sugary sweets only every once and a while! And be careful of fiber! I hope I helped you! Sorry it is SO long! And exercise too!

you have to really want it, I kept doing that also until my last straw was when I wanted to wear something nice for a guy and I couldn't fit anything, I got so tired of crying daily because I kept gaining. I also changed up my routine to make it fun, I run down on the Plaza which is like a big shopping and park area, and then I do a West african dance class, and yoga class, and then go to the gym to do the eliptical and stairclimber. I usually walk in my apt complex at night, but here lately it's been raining since tuesday, just change things up and have fun while doing cardio. It may also be wise to bring a buddy.

Oh yeah don't cheat, completely avoid pop, it's empty calories and eat 4-5 small meals a day. Watch your portions and eat a breakfast. Oh yeah I also stopped eating after 9. I do all of this and I have lost about 12 lbs so far in the last 2-3 weeks.

You need to write out a plan and post it all over the place. You should also tell people "I'm starting such-and-such plan tomorrow." When you tell other people, you are more likely to follow through.

Don't focus so much on the weight. It's hard to build muscle without actual weight training involved. So I don't think your mom knows what she is talking about. That shouldn't scare you however. Muscle is much better at burning calories than fat. Try testing your body fat (you can buy scales now that do this automatically). Use that more as a bench mark. A lot of people get so focused on the weight number, they forget how slimming muscle tissue looks. So even though it weighs more than fat, it is also more slimming. If you dropped 10% bodyfat and stayed the same weight you'd be looking smoking hot. Check out this site for some motivational images. http://www.musclewithattitude.com/

Those chicks motivate me to work hard, and I'm a guy.

I think you should try and cut back on fatty foods and try to eat a well-balanced meal. Try cutting the amount of calories you eat a day. Also you could try eating Lean Cuisines, Healthy Choice, or Smart One meals. They helped me lose weight combined with excercise. Maybe instead of saying you'll work out later wake up in the morning and excerise you might just like it better or you can ask a friend to run with you and help motivate you. I did this with a friend and we would keep pushing each other to keep going.
