I have heard of this. Our vet told us when we first got our puppy to soften the kibble with warm water, not cold to help with digestion. Also no matter what age it is best to have warm (not hot) food for wet food. Room temp is ok too, but if you keep it in the fridge then it should be put in the microwave for just a few seconds.

I have.
It's thought to give the dog a tummy ache if fed cold food. And there may be something to that.I don't know.
What I do know is that I mix 1/4 can of dog food in with my dogs dry food nightly as a treat and the rest of the can gets refridgerated for the next night and my dogs will oftenwalk away from the cold food and return to eat within 20 minutes or so.Obviously they prefer it at room temperature.

You are feeding a dog not a baby so it doesn't need to be warmed. They only thing warming the food does is make it smellier which makes it more enticing to dogs. I think your spouse is pulling your leg or has been misinformed.

In the summer months, I feed my dogs raw chicken that is partially frozen and they love it.

It's preferable for the food to be warm, but they'll be fine if the food is a bit cold. However most cans say "feed at room temperature".

The main idea for this would be a dog that isn't eating a warmed food entices more due to the sent of the food/

I had a dog get very sick from raw meat that had likely thawed and been refrozen (someone gave it to me from a farm). Although I feed my dog raw now, I buy it frozen from a butcher and would never give her any other form of raw meat. I do believe the stance that it is feeding a dog real food, and not necessarily raw meat, that makes the difference, so if you cook your dog`s meat, that should be optimal as well.

I always warm the canned food up either by heating it in a microwave or adding warm water. They can eat cold food but warm smells better to them. In summer they get frozen Pumpkin ice cubes.

I don't think it makes a difference. Dogs are really not that much different from us. We eat some cold foods, why can't they? I don't see any reason to warm it up.

My fiance used to say the same thing about our chow who he had before he and I moved in together. I told him that he spent too many years spoiling her and that she would eat whatever was put down just because she was hungry. Guess what? I was right, she eats whatever I put down for her. If your dog is used to having warm food and you don't want to bother with warming it just put it down for him/her when the dog is hungry enough he/she will eat it.

Yes. It is thought that warm food is easier to digest and that cold food can contribute to diarrhea. I've found that picky eaters will eat much better if their food is warmed.
