I had the same problem with my son. I got a bottle of lavender body spray and sprayed it on his hands after he washed them each time. It smells nice and soothing, but the alcohol taste is not very pleasant. He stopped within a month. Good luck

There used to be a product that was safe and nasty tasting. Another way is to put $10 or $20 in dimes in a jar. Tell him that all of the $$ will be his if he stops biting. Every time he bites-have him remove a dime and give it back to you. If he stops for 1 or 2 weeks then he gets to keep what is left. It broke our son's thumb sucking habit! Biting is a nervous fidgety habit that is tough to break but possible. You could also put clear Sally Hanson nail hardener on his nails. It is tough to try to chew. It will help them to grow faster too. Good Luck.

You could do what my mother did. If the nail beds arent raw, put tabasco sauce on them a few times a day. Unless he likes the hot sauce, he will stop biting them, but reincorce it to him by telling him not to bite his nails and his mouth wont burn.
Good luck!

Thre are lots of things to stop this behaviour at the pharmacy. from paint on things to plasters. However my daughter got 'used' to the icky taste of the paint. . .
If you want something cheaper try pepper or curry powder.
Dont forget to re-apply after every hand wash.

All of these ideas sound good...but don' t forget kids stick their fingers in their eyes too....Imagine Tabasco or pepper on a finger then the child scratches their eyes.....It won't be pretty.

ok, try to get him to stop by rewarding him with a toy if he dosen't bite.
If that dosen't work, make him wear gloves/mittens
Just also try to get him pre-occupied with something else having to do with his hands, and he won't do it anymore!
Also i think at drugstores there is this clear nailpolish stuff that tastes bad that gets you to stop.
