If it's a first offense, I'd probably not respond to it, but I'd print it out anyway and put it away for evidence. If more e-mails like this keep appearing in your inbox, or if the first one is really serious and sayssomething like, "I know where you live," then I'd take it all to the police and have a report filed. They can use the offender's e-mail address to send a warning, or for more more serious offences, use the offender's contact name (if available) to get the full address so they can send out a warrant. Good luck to you.

I saw that on t.v. people are sending out emails saying that the recipient will be killed if they don't send money. First look at the email is there anything in it that pertains to you in particular like your name or address. If not then it is probably a generic email that is being sent to everyone. Next contact the police. This is a crime, and should be prosecuted, I would call the state and if they won't do anything then call the FBI. Good Luck

agencies are cracking down on computer crimes. if this email is from someone you know and you honestly believe there is some merit to it, go to the pd and file an information report. that creates a file so that if any more harassment comes that you can also file that. this just helps build your case and gives you an official record.....which will help you and the leo's to file charges. if it's from someone you have no contact with nor do not know, i'd just trash it.

Personally, I'd just ignore it if it were just randomly from someone who couldn't possibly know where you lived, worked, etc.

If it's serious, like the person knows where you live, who you are, or if you know who the person is, call the non-emergency line of your local police department, they'll know what to do and help you out...

Report it immediately!

Try to find out where it came from, then turn them in unless they are prophesying or fortune telling.
