His bride used to be a heroine addict. People make mistakes. I then found out she had been a prostitute. I can forgive youthful discretions. But now I find out.....she voted for George Bush.

Yikes! I can forgive the first two bottom of the barrel choices...but with the Bush vote...that's it for me. Stay away from the nuptials. P.S. It would take a heroin addict/ prostitute to vote for Bush. lol!

While I completely agree with your concern (especially regarding her political choices) I feel that you'd end up regretting not supporting your own child, even if he's making a bad choice. Some people have to learn the hard way.
I suggest telling him how you feel, and letting him know you'll be there for him. Just don't talk politics with this chick. Bush's ratings are like 18%. It makes sense that the only people who vote for him are heroin addicted prostitues.
Good luck

If you can get past the heroine and prostitution,I think you can get past voting for Bush. That's a ridiculous reason for considering not going to your son's wedding. He'll never forgive you for it and your relationship will never recover from it. You may not agree with his choices but you still need to be in his corner. I'm sure you would be there for him if he divorced her,now wouldn't you?????

I just find it funny that everyone is taking the voting thing so seriously....it was a hilarious joke.....get a life people.

As for the other stuff, like you said, people make mistakes, and as long as she is not doing anything to hurt your son in the present....you should be happy for him. And if it helps thinks about how lucky you are compared to mothers who lived to bury their sons rather than attend their wedding; and even mothers who didn't live long enough to attend their sons' weddings.....

Go and have a good time! He has to live with her, you don't. Life is too short.

Heroin, Prostitution, and Republican. I never knew that combination existed.

Go to the wedding. If she's a republican, her parents probably have enough money to pay for a heck of a wedding reception. If she's a republican hooker, she is probably a high class hooker, and she can throw some money into the mix as well.

Maybe some of her former colleagues will be there, which might also be entertaining.

Now, if your question is actually serious...go to the wedding. He's your son.

He is your son! You should respect his wishes, and hope he gets a divorce. BUT! SHE VOTED FOR BUSH! He is such an idiot. WHY THE HECK WOULD ANYONE VOTE FOR BUSH??? Why would he get married to someone that was a prostitute, or was on heroine, you don't want your son becoming like her do you??? You could at least "pretend" that you like this woman...
Good Luck!
At least he is out of office for good in...
569 days, 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 20 seconds! STILL WAY TO LONG. (I have a backwards Bush countdown timer!)

Hardcore intravenous drug use, and indiscriminate sex for money will ultimately mess with a persons mind, therefore she cannot be blamed for her behavior while under the influence (right Paris?!). Given time and rehab, she may come to realize her mistakes and repent in the Lord (right Paris?!). Is the wedding date before November 4, 2008?

A mother's love is supposed to be unconditional. Right?Attend the wedding for his sake. We all make bad choices in life. Haven't you? Don't judge people for who they vote for because doing so is being very small minded. You don't have to love your new d-in-law, but for your son's sake, be nice, or you'll lose your son. There may be grandchildren in the future & you will want to be a part of their lives too.

kelgie......way to go girl!!!

The question to ask yourself is how you will feel in 10 years knowing that you didn't go to your sons wedding. Ultimately this is the person he wants to be with, and there is not much anyone can do about that. HE is asking for you to be there on one of the most important days of his life an I think that is reason enough in itself to go.
