we had my boyfriends 2yo daughter with us for 3 wks. she didn't have a solid poop the whole time. it was mostly soft/runny. not to be gross but shouldn't she have solid poops at that age. i've never been around kids that age full time so i'm new to this stuff.
i worried she might have a food allergy that is undiscovered.

How much juice does she have a day? Juice is a natural laxative, and something a lot of kids have too much of, causing runny stools.

If it's watery kind of runny, greasy, has mucous and/or blood in it, or if she seems to be dehydrating or feeling sick, mention it to the doctor.

If by "soft" you mean it's just not a form like grown-up poops in the toilet, but it was just kind of soft and really mooshed into the diaper, then that's not only normal, that's preferable. It's proof she's not constipated. It's a little gross, but think about how a healthy, soft stool would look if it had no where to drop to, but instead was trapped between a bare butt and a diaper. It wouldn't retain a solid form.

My son's stools were super soft and really ewie almost the whole time he was in diapers. When he started using the toilet, it appeared his stools changed overnight, simply because it retained its form when it wasn't being squished by the diaper.

However, my answer to all "is something wrong here?" questions regarding children is to mention it to their doctor. It can't hurt. If the doctor feels everything is okay, you can let it go. If he doesn't, he'll start working on trying to figure out what's causing it.

she's probably just had too much fiber. If it's full blown diarhea take her to the doctor because she's going to get dehydrated. Give her something like pedialyte until you get to the doctor, it will balance the electrolites in her body. And watch the fruits, vegatables, nuts those sorts of things are high in fiber and will make her poop soft.

Sounds like she needs water in her diet. She should water down all juices and add some bran to her diet. Like cereal, bread, rice, bananas. Yes, in a day or two that would work.
