This is interesting, many of the answers below state that Travolta is a Scientologist. And? As I understand, most Christian's believe they have a higher authority when it comes to criticizing another's religion because it does not coincide with their own. Has something changed that I am not aware of?

It's a role in a movie, for crying out loud. Do you think actors playing murderers, rapists, Nazis, etc., etc., are committing a 'sin'? I am an actor, a Shakespearean actor, and not a single one of the parts to which I've given life upon the stage over 54 years was "me." From under what rock do some of you Fundies crawl?

The only sin that was committed was that Harvey Fierstein was not cast.

F*ck John Travolta, ruining Hairspray for me.

It doesn't matter what Christians think, nor you.
Christians have their own opinions, just as you clearly do about Christianity itself.

As much of a mockery of other peoples' religion as you intended the question to be, successfully displaying the small, intolerant world you exist in, God lays final judgement on all things.

He was addressing a specific group of people at that point in time. Many of the laws given to the Israelites doesn't really apply anymore. Besides, clothing is often made gender-neutral now, so it would be hard to apply it!

Travolta is not a Christian though, he is a Scientologist.

I also suspect he enjoyed dressing as a woman.

that law was given to the Jewish people

and since I am born a Jew I wouldnt do it even for a movie-yet -he has bigger issues with his 'religion' of the mind to be concerned about than that

this is what got me to believe in Jesus and not scientology to get a clear in my soul and not have to give millions to join a cult=this is how I as a Jew came to know Jesus personally

"Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

the answer is still in the salvation of the soul-till then we are on the outside looking in. Revelation 22 "Do not add to my word or take from it or you will receieve plagues, and never find salvation.

this is how I got salvation-believing the Word of God="I love you, and ask you to repent of your sins (even one lie) quickly. Behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you hear my words and ask me in, I will come in and be your friend." Revelation 1:1=Jesus words spoken from heaven & 3:19&20

so i prayed "Jesus I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."

Now Jesus is my Messiah, Bright and morning star, best friend, and savior, he comforts and keeps me, and His word has become the love letter of my life in Spirit and in truth.

Praying the best for you too, David

That's perfectly fine within scientology. I bet Cruisey does it behind closed doors too. I wonder if Katie knows?
