Any valid look at the science clarifies the fact that global warming or cooling is a natural occurance.

Al Gore is a shameless propagandist, who has become the front man for the envirofascists. He does not do as he preaches, and has no more clue about "global warming" than the rest of those low wattage Hollywood types he hangs out with. Recently a leading scientist who does know what he is talking about offered to wager Gore $10,000 that the "global warming" will not continue. Big Al has not taken the bet. He is a laughing stock. The trouble is that there are more of his ilk constantly beating the hysteria drums. But no, people like Al Gore will never admit they are wrong. More and more leading environmental scientist are finally coming out and saying that this is all a bunch of bunk. I would rather trust them than some whining loser of a politician.

You've done the right thing. You've given them the chance to admit the deception. When the inevitable fall finally comes, it is going to be rough on environmentalists, but perhaps there will be a cleansing of all the phony "science", a disconnect from the political machine, an opportunity to get some new blood in the system.

In the short run, though, the big loser will be the environment. Already, billions of dollars are being funneled away from legitimate research and aid that could improve living conditions TODAY, instead of fighting some imaginary foe in a speculated future.

It's rather humorous how some of these ecofascists attack Exxon as the embodiment of evil. Scorecard: Exxon has provided millions of people with gainful employment and provided affordable services to billions of people globally for half a century, giving them the opportunity to make their own livings. Environmentalists: Killed millions of people worldwide by banning DDT. ( Continue to kill thousands of people every year - ironically, malaria is supposed to be one of the consequences of GW) Cemented dependence on fossil fuels through anti-nuclear energy movement - if global warming were true, then it would have been created by environmentalists. Either way, they've drained billions of dollars from the economy with nothing to show but the subsequent environmental destruction. Now they want to tax the world in excess of a trillion dollars a year - trust them, they say, "All our scientists say so." So now they're economics and business experts, too?

Thanks for the info, America First

Why should he? As a wise person once told me. "Beliefs get in the way of reality." Gore is being rewarded for his beliefs, because there are a lot of people who lack critical thinking skills. In the 1960s the media had everyone worried about Golbal Cooling, and Paul Erlich had everyone convinced there was going to be food wars by 2000.

The media love Gore because his wacko policies are anti-American. Ever read his book? Wacko. Claims he invented the Internet. Ever hear of Tim Berners Lee?

Who lives in a mansion, but tells us to conserve energy? A hypocrite.

who really cares Al Gore did not invent Global Warming
that is doing fine with out him marching along
and people are still accelerating the effects

Al Gore got 2 billion people together thinking about the Environment
Can you do that ??
And many people admit that his film has made them become aware of global problems and mans involvement

And now they are interested and even changing their behaviour ,have you done that ??

So even if Al gore has been incorrect he has been a tremendous positive influence on behalf of the Environment

And 3 cheers for that to Al

Why should he? That article proves nothing.

Most of these examples look at one place and say "It's not happening here." For example., glaciers are growing a few places, but mostly, they're retreating fast. The fact that they are growing in a few places disproves nothing.

The author is from the "Heartland Institute", a place whose mission is to spread doubt about global warming, not give a balanced view. They receive funding from ExxonMobil. Here's one of their other projects:

"in 2006 the Heartland Institute partnered with the National Association of Tobacco Outlets (NATO) in "a campaign to change public opinion about tobacco"

You cite the IPCC report of 2007. If that's a good source, global warming is real and mostly man made. It is, and it is.

The swindle movie is bogus.

It is simply a political statement which distorts science. The director has a history of putting out misleading stuff. In 1997 he made a series for Channel 4 called “Against Nature”, which compared environmentalists with Nazis. Channel 4 had to apologise for the misleading stuff in that one. The present movie is also a distortion of the science. More here:

"A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

History of the director.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Durkin_(television_director)

Gore's movie may be a little over dramatic, but it has the basic science right. This movie does not.

Channel 4 itself undercuts the movie in a funny way. If you go to their website on the movie you find links to real global warming information. They also have a way to "Ask the Expert" about global warming. The questions go to a respected mainstream scientist who supports (mostly) human responsibility for global warming.

So, why did Channel 4 broadcast it?

"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

If you want to join the global warming debate the very least you could do is a) know what you're talking about and b) use facts and not distortions and fabrications.

The only comment in the suntimes.com article that is remotely credible is the one concerning hurricanes. At present we don't know precisely how global warming is affecting hurricanes and other storms - the frequency and intensity of such events has increased dramatically in recent decades, more than would seem to be attributable to just global warming. However, pretty much every meteorologist and climatologist will tell you that global warming has a role to play.

It would be very easy to go through each and every comment in the article and refute it with documented fact but I fear that you aren't open to facts so it would be a waste of time.

You're entitled to your opinions, just as Al Gore is. As is the other researchers quoted in the Sun Times.

How do you think we should deal with rising temperatures? Should we ignore them? Let your grandchildren deal with the consequences of ignoring a potential problem when it could have been dealt with?

We do not have the volcanic activity that preceded other warming trends this time. We do have the carbon loading from the industrial revolution to the present time. We can reduce the pollutants or we can pretend it isn't there.

You want the inventor of the Internet to admit he was wrong?

What are you thinking of?

Why are you using reason and actually looking for the truth?

You must be re-educated. You are disagreeing with a liberal..

how can he admit something that is right? leave that b.s. at the door. global warming is a true and proven fact and even though you think you have 'evidence' it doesn't nearly parallel with gore's. =]
