I wasn't raised by any religion, my parents were of two different religions. It would really help if someone could help me find a site that is very resourceful in many religions.

the only way to find one is through researching religions till you find one that suits your personal truths about life and spirituality. their is no "one" true religion regardless of what is said. for God to choose which one praises him best would make him human. for god is "all" loving.

Before trying to find a religion that is right for you, you need to decide what you believe in. Do you believe in one deity, or many? Do you believe in evolution, or creation, or both? Do you believe in heaven, and hell, just one, or neither? Do you believe in reincarnation? Do you believe in karma? Do you believe that multiple religions can be right, or is only one?

Find the answers to these important questions, and more. Make a list, and then find a religion that best suits them.

I've included links to some websites that tell information about many religions, and some religion tests. Religious belief tests are not perfect, but may give you an idea what sorts of things you are interested in. In order to find what is right for you, you will have to research some of the religions to see what feels right to you.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

Like you , I wasn't raised in a particular church . I don't network with other Christians except on here . It bothered me at one time . But I think I that my religion is the Bible and that's good enough for me . My husband and I were attending a church for a while and we both got baptised there . But we stopped going because the pastor told another church member that my husband was the bad seed . A few people knew about this and started going to a different church .They called my husband and told him about it . My husband cried , and hasn't gone to another church since .I told him the pastor had no right to deliver judgement on him , but nothing I say matters . It broke his heart . I don't want to go without him so I am content to study my Bible . Some people do better on their own . But if you need the people there are a lot of non- denominational churches . Might be one in your area .

I dont know about "Internet Sites". I would be wary about recommending something like that unless I had throughly vetted it first.

But let me say something about "choosing" a religion.
The only valid reason for believing in any religion is because you believe it to be TRUE. Period.

I have never understood folks who "convert" from one religion to another because of, lets say, marriage.

A Religion didn't suddenly become "true" because you decided to get married to someone of that faith.
I suspect that such folks really hold to the belief that it doesn't matter WHAT you believe, as long as you are sincere about it.
(even though, even by THAT standard they wouldn't be "truly" converting. How can they be sincere when the only reason they are changing or joining a religion is because of an impending marriage?)

Religions, broadly speaking, fall into two catagories:

"Man reaching up to God and trying to please Him, through rituals, works, his own efforts".
Or, Christianity.
Which is, "God reaching down to Man".

In Christianity, it is God who takes the intitive. It says that Man can do NOTHING to please God.
Jesus came and did everything for us.

Now, I will admit that most folks just dont like this. We have in the back of our mind that there must be SOMETHING that we can do that is acceptable to God.
There isnt.
Jesus said, "Without ME, You can do NOTHING.

He doesn't even want our help. The world says, "God helps those who help themselves".
God says, "I help those who admit they are helpless".

People in their hearts want to live forever. God has put eternity in our hearts. We always desire it. We are always looking for the right "system" to achieve it.

God says, "There is no system".

There is, however, a Person. That Person is Jesus Christ.

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes unto the Father, but by ME"

Jesus said, "..and this is life eternal, that they may KNOW you"

You see, real Christianity, isn't a "religion". It is KNOWING a Person.
And the word for "Knowing" in the original language is a word of intimancy. It's the same word used of a man "knowing" his wife.
It's not just "taking in knowledge".

It is a RELATIONSHIP.

If you truly want to have eternal life and the "correct" religion, then you dont need a "religion" at all.

You need HIM.

I would advise you to read the Gospel of John. And then read the Book of Romans.

The book of Romans will explain why everyone needs HIM.
The Gospel of John will reveal who He is, and what He did for us.

Just ask God to help you see His Son and His will for you in this matter.

If sincerly asked, that is a prayer He has promised to always answer.

Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Hi,

The question you should be asking yourself is

'Why am I looking for religion?'

You are obviously wanting something, I do not know what it is.

It could be you are lonely, want companionship, want to get married, want someone to respect you......the list goes on and one.

Sort out what you want first, religion might not be the answer.

What you must remember is that to take up a religion means dedication to a cause.

Without whole heartedly jumping in it is not going to work.

Once you have jumped your life will never be the same again.

Once you have took up a faith it is very hard to reject it and leave.

Consider all this before you jump, it might be that you just need to join a social club to feel fulfilled.

I would refer you to Beliefnet.com. It will give you an over view of virtually all of the major and many minor religions in the world today.
After you have the names of those that interest you the most, go online to learn more.
A public or college library can also hold a wealth of information about various religions.
My two favorite belief systems are Islam and Buddhism. One of the most fun to read about are the tales of the Norse, as well as the myths of Japan (good luck with the names though if you are primarily and English speaker...)
May it all be well with you.

Dear RandomIndigo,

I'm not sure whether you actually mean different Christian denominations or if you really do mean different religions.

TheBerean gave you an excellent answer. The only suggestion I can add is that you take a look at The Father's Love Letter. Barry Adams used various Bible verses showing how the Bible really is God's Love Letter to you and to me.

http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm

This is a site that has a good number of holy books of various religions online...It's a good place to read and research, a good starting point...

Many on here will tell you what they believe, and then try and convert you...The Atheists are just as bad, with their evangelical preaching (I know, I know, Atheism isn't a religion...then stop acting like it is one with the proselytizing)

The only way to find what it is that calls, is to search...The Quest for the Holy Grail is one that has been here since the days the sword was pulled from the stone...So, when you choose, begin your quest...

"...May the roads rise to meet you and the wind be always at your back; May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His Hand..."

The best way is to read about each religion from its original source. So if you wanted to read about Islam, you should read the Quran. If you want to learn about Christianity you should read the bible, if you want to read about Judaism read the torah. I don't know how accurate the bible and the torah will be because they can no longer be found in their original forms. However, the Quran is still in its original form. I don't know about any websites for other religions but if you want to read a bit about Islam you can use the following links:

http://www.noblequran.info/
http://www.islamreligion.com/
http://www.islamdoor.com/

Good luck =)

You need to study and seek. There are some books out there on the world's religions that compare them. But not all religions can be true, only one can. Only one can lead to the one true God. If you want to know why I like Christianity, e mail me.
