I'm visiting a friend whom I haven't seen in 9 years and am staying with her family for a week. They've been kind to let me stay in their home for the entire time, my friend is going to give up her bed for me, and they are going to feed me, etc. I want to get them a gift for their generous hospitality and thank them for it. I was just wondering what's a warming house present I could for the entire family. Thanks.

First I'd kick in money for groceries while I'm there, maybe take them out for a meal as well.

I'd have a looksee at their house and see what kind of flowers they have or type of wine they drink, then buy them either flowers for their yard to remember you by or a good wine for their wine rack.

You want a hostess gift - a housewarming gift is given to people who have just moved into a new home.

Take them all out to dinner - that's the traditional approach. Or a gift card to a local restaurant would be nice, for them to go out to dinner after you've left.

Good for you to be so thoughtful - I'm sure they'll want you to visit again. :)

A plant is very nice, but if you were to take them out for a meal while you are visiting.
