the New birth! John chapter 3
this is how one truely ends up finding themselves-worked for me. Jesus said except a seed die it can not become alive-its a spiritual death to sin, to become born again spiritually.=this is how I as a Jew came to know Jesus personally

"Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

the answer is still in the salvation of the soul-till then we are on the outside looking in. Revelation 22 "Do not add to my word or take from it or you will receieve plagues, and never find salvation.

this is how I got salvation-believing the Word of God="I love you, and ask you to repent of your sins (even one lie) quickly. Behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you hear my words and ask me in, I will come in and be your friend." Revelation 1:1=Jesus words spoken from heaven & 3:19&20

so i prayed "Jesus I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."

Now Jesus is my Messiah, Bright and morning star, best friend, and savior, he comforts and keeps me, and His word has become the love letter of my life in Spirit and in truth.

Praying the best for you too, David

You need to keep searching because that means you still need that image of you finding Jesus, you still need to cling to it and so you need to lose yourself and become a true individual.. if you are lost in that way, you cannot find, you have to be found (that's what the story about the lost sheep means, when the shepard found the lost sheep he told it: "i love you most of all my sheeps" because that one had become an individual, it had become better than the others) and if you are truely found you cannot be lost ("he who believes in me shall not taste death").

How do you go about losing yourself? I mean really. did you forget where you put yourself?

As for finding Jesus, I'm not big on digging up graves, so no thank you.

It means you are a Christian

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

You become deluded and dependent on a blind and corrupt faith.

I'd advise very quickly finding yourself again; where did you see yourself last?
