give him a bath before bed to soften the skin.
don't draw any attention to the splinter.
wait till he's asleep and then you can take the tweezers and needle to him.
my boyfreinds 2yo daughter had some in her foot and while sleeping i was able to get all of them. he just had to hold the flashlight. same for hands if they get one there too.
make sure to add a dab of antibiotic cream to it after so the sites don't get red.
just wait till they are sound asleep.

IF there is a small piece of the splinter above the skin surface use good old regular Elmer's glue, wait til dry and remove, the splinter should be removed painlessly along with the dried glue.
Bacon Fat is the greatest answer for removing wood splinters.
Take a smal piece of bacon fat (raw) tape on to splinter. Leave on over night and splinter will be in the bacon fat by morning. No pain.
(BUT.....Someone stated....
Raw bacon can cause an infection. Much worse than the splinter itself. Do not try this)
If all else fails and it is a wood splinter, leave it and it will work its way out. A good way to remember this and/or explain it to a child is:
If you throw a piece of wood in the water what will it do? It will float.
If you throw a piece of steel in the water what will it do? It will sink.
Therefore if it is a wood splinter and you are having trouble removing it, cover it with a bandage and it will work it's way out because you may do more damage digging to remove it. Steel on the other hand will not, it will just go deeper and deeper. I hope this helps.
Just rub some castor oil onto the area where the splinter is, cover it with a band aid and go to bed.
Because castor oil has drawing properties, when you take the band aid off the next morning the splinter will have risen to the surface of the skin and it will eitherjust come right out or if it was a bit deeper you might need the tweezers. But so far I've never had to use the tweezers they have just popped out with a bit of a squeeze.
Ingredients: Hydrogen Peroxide
Instructions: This works great. I had a tiny piece of glass in my foot for months that I kept trying to get out & couldn't for the life of me.So a friend of mine told me to try Peroxide. I poured it on my footwhere the glass was, and within minutes the glass was laying on theoutside of my foot where it had went in. I have tried this for splinters thatI couldn't get out & it worked for me for those too.
If nothing works needle and tweezers. Good Luck no fun for either child nor parent.

If you can feel the splinter sticking out of the skin, use a piece of tape. Place the tape over the splinter, press lightly, (it may hurt a little), and pull gently in the direction of the splinter. My Mom did this to my sister when she fell into a cactus and it worked great.

I read this somewhere and didn't think it would work but it did. Put some Elmer's Glue over it and the surrounding area. Once it is dry, pull the glue patch off and ta-da the splinter usually comes along with it!

I don't know how to help you with that. I do remember that when I was about 6 years old my dad put bacon on it and wrapped it. I have no idea if it worked! Isn't that weird? Maybe research "bacon and splinter", it might have worked.

Have him soak in the tub for a little to loosen the skin. Try tweezers, but while he eats something he likes (snakck or such) If not try drawing salve (buy it at the pharmacy) I know itstinks when kids getsplinters, but they do have to be removed.
