Nope. Just their way of trying to talk you out of it.

Seeing how they already have an insurance policy on you, you might want to find a different beneficiary (sister/brother) for the really cheap one they'll offer you in the military.

Oh, by the way, you might ask them to check to see if there is a "war clause" in theirs. Almost all policies have them and sorta defeats their purpose, except for the scare tactics they're using, which seem to be working.

Oh and it's not an omen at all. A bad omen is when you can hear the bullets whizzing by. Of course that could be considered a good omen too, since it means the enemy is a bad shot. But that's a given.

Your folks seem strange from your question. But thats their problem.
There is no insurance company in the world that will pay them because you died in war. Only a Military policy that you take out through the Marines is going to get them any money and "only" if you name them benificiaries.
War is the real bad Omen...Good Luck and
Semper Fi jarhead.

Omens mean nothing when in battle. You stand or fall by the luck of fate. No charm, prayer, curse or bad omen will change that. As for that policy, they had better look carefully at the fine print. Many will not pay if you die at war. Good luck!! Kick ***.... That's the best way to survive.

Sounds like your parents are gold digging whores. Best thing you could have done is enlist to get away from them. Seems like you have some real honor, don't take any leads from them ok! Semper Fi and no it's not a sign of a bad omem, just bad parenting.

Well, perhaps it's your parent's way of saying that they really don't want you to go. They might be figuring that there's a good chance they'll never see you again.

Remember, this is a war that is more about oil than Iraq's freedom.

The first thing that was protected upon overthrowing Sadaam Hussein was to protect the oil pipelines. Not the troops, not the people of Iraq but the oil pipelines.

Here's some food for thought............Afghanistan has a rather large oil reserve. We needed to start there and then enter Iraq to connect the oil pipelines. Next is Iran. It's all about the oil, not freedom.

thats actually quite insensitive of you parents. kinda like their trying to make money off something that should be seen as a loss.(if it were to happen) . don't worry about omens. whatever happens, happens. good luck though dude. :)

At least you know what you are worth. Wouldn't it have sucked if it was only 200,000?
