From experience you should shut it down, and when allowed
you can restart it. It should be that simple. The same for a DVD player.

If you are reading this now, then you have probably already turned off the damn thing and made it to your destination. Or you've been asked to disembark from the plane and sent down to that nice little room where TSA agents make you strip down to your underwear and Ask you a hundred or so questions about your inability to follow FAA regulations regarding lappers and cell phones. You have to turn it OFF while in take off. After take off you can turn it back on. But you have turn it OFF when you land too.
