I'm not sure why they take it personally, but they need to get over it. My puppy was fine in a couple days.

Getting a male dog neutered is a very wise decison becuase it stops the testosterone from producing agressive behavior.
If the dog has stiches that need to be removed by a doctor then it will take longer to heal and there is a greater chance that the dog will rip them out.
When my dog was done they used special stitches that dissolved (they didn't need to be removed), and so they were less of an annoyance to the dog. It took about three weeks for them to dissolve completely.
Some people believe that having a dog neutered changes their emotional state and can cause distress. When they dog is a puppy it doesn't even notice the change because the testosterone has not started to take any effect yet. On older dogs where the hormones have already been in their system the dog may seem lethargic for a bit, but most of the time they make a full recovery. Most of the time it is better for male dogs to be neutered because it curves agression to a certain degree, stops the dog from doing things like humping legs, (which is very uncomfortable for guests and embarrassing for you), and also stops the dog from reproducing with another dog. Don't feel bad about it at all!

Dogs do not think like people, so it is inappropriate to put human thoughts and emotions on them. Dogs are ruled by instinct when it comes to hormones. They don't have control over this. They make better pets and have less behavior and potential health problems if neutered. It reduces the stress of wanting to get out and find females to breed with and not being able to. An adult dog will recover fine in a couple of weeks. Hopefully your vet prescribed pain medication for several days to reduce pain and inflammation.

Yeah, guys project into the dog's place. There are even plastic ball prostheses being sold now so the boy can still look studly. Somebody's gonna cash in on that one, for sure! It depends on the dog. I've had them come home and be clueless they had anything done..one even mated a female the day he got home [thank goodness that didn't take!], which is why he went when he did, so he couldn't. Others whine and cry forever. Especially if it gets them extra attention....

Your dog will be fine in a couple of weeks. he still may be sensitive down there for a while. it IS a surgery.
Guys are just stupid. They would be imasculated if their balls were snipped off. that's why they leave them on when they get vasectomies.
in dogs, it helps with aggression, marking, and most important, unwanted puppies. it also lowers their risk of cancer later in life. You did the right thing

It will take only a day or two for the dog to get back to normal as far as playing and such, it should take close to two weeks for him to be healed unless you let him lick his wounds.
yeah that is why you didn't want to have him done, not only that but it is like cutting off your best friend's balls.

He should be completely healed in 10 days. I am sure your dog doesn't mind and no his balls do not protect him from anything. If you are talking about the sniffling part, it is their anal gland they are sniffling not their balls.
My dog was fine the same day and he was on no medication at all.
