I can trace the pain all the way back to a few weeks ago when I was doing preacher curls at the gym and strained my left arm.

It started off as just an inner pain, but then I started feeling it across the bone. It also hurts whenever I twist the skin around my arm.

Now it's mostly gone except it's kind of an annoyance whenever I try and do curls with my left arm. I can feel it when I put stress on my arm during the first half of the curl.

My friend brought up tendonitis. Could that be it? What should I do about this? Keep taking Advil and hope it goes away?

Does sound like tendonitis. You need to let it heel. Drop any exercises on the arm for 1-2 wks and take the max does of advil that it recommends on the bottle. Advil will decrease swelling and promote healing while also removing the pain.

Your friend is right, it's probably tendinitis, an infection in the sheath of the tendons, this is hard to get rid of, usually movement starts it and causes it to get worse. A trip to the doctor and a shot of cortisone may help.
Ibuprofen can help aleave the pain

There are so many ways to get sports injuries. I could even be carpel tunnel. Or a pulled muscle. Or a nerve could be pinched, usually if it does not improve after a week or so it is time to see the doc.

Yes, you need to get that looked at. Sounds like it could be a repetitive stress injury or a pinched nerve, either of which will just get worse if you don't treat it.
