... And, would that be a place of no words, but all noise?

For some unknown reason I have found myself on several occasions, conscious, fully thinking, fully feeling the emotions such as fear, astonishment, extreme excitement, curiosity and wonder, with memory intact, yet formless, floating above my sleeping body. My five senses were not being utilized at the time, but there I was, being me, wondering what I should do from here. Once I blasted through the fear, it occurred to me, is this my sixth sense? Is this an 'astral' body? Can I actually exist on different dimensional levels before this body dies? Wow, pretty exciting glimpse of the Universe from that perspective. I traveled in that state. There were other personalities, exchanges of thoughts, places to see. vast beyond your wildest imaginings. I'm guessing the personality survives death, experiences transformation but not loss of identity. Anyhoo........... It left me with the feeling,
'You ain't seen nothing yet!'
Come on in the Universe is fine!
Peace from a fellow student of Life........

There is such a place within us, a place without senses, without input, without Consciousness. It is a place where only the Mind exists.

To reach this place where only the Mind resides, we must still the consciousness, meditation is the method, concentration and focus is the key, stilling the consciousness so that there is just concentrated focus on the object of Meditation, establishing Mindfulness to the exclusion of all else. There are stages to pass in order that stillness is established, these stages are a guide to allow the Mind its release.

Jhana, this is the place. There is no thought nor input of any kind because the consciousness, that Skhandha has been focused and stilled. There are no words, no noise, no thought of any kind, there is nothing, a stillness often called a void where the Mind is allowed free reign. This is the sixth sense, it is our essence and there is no discernment, only the inherent knowledge it imparts when it is so allowed.

It is Peace, it is Nibbana, but it is only a glimpse, a taste, there is nothing more. It is a difficult place to reach in meditation and is often unattained, yet striving for Jhana gives us the opportunity to feel some of its strength during the attempt and the practise, it should be remembered that it is only ever a practise. Not reaching Jhana isn't failure, it is lack of concentrated effort.

Peace from a Buddhist...

Perception of noise is a sense too.

Remove all senses and you remove all outside stimuli that distracts from "Self" and you have only pure and raw You....(or whomever). What do you think that would be like, being a cosmic being perhaps?

Sounds wicked cool, huh?

Senses are temporarily removed in deep sleep too ??

It is the mind which veils the true peace and true self... until mind is stilled.. pure and true self will be revealed

Patanjali said - "Yogascha vritti niruddham" still of vrittis (thoughts waves) is yoga between self and god

Yes it is all pure, sublime, bliss ful consciousness provided your inner self is also purified of inner thoughts. Otherwise the inner thoughts will continue to dance around with the help of inner senses just as it does when we are dreaming in sleep when the external senses are all dormant.

You are speaking of just "being". To silence the mind and the senses is to be in a state of pure consciousness. So, you wouldn't be feeling or thinking, you would just be.

In sleep, I am trapped in my own illusion. Fake senses but real feeling going on.

On the otherhand, without a physical body, I can only imagine being conscious(expanded) of everything, lots of feeling and immobilized(perception due to the absence of body). It is like being held in prison but full of love and compassion( it is so, because the death of the soul is the awakening of true self - spirit).

you couldn't tell if their was noise if their was no sense

and how can you have feelings without first having senses

like love? you would have to see and hear and feel the person to love them

to be angry or sad or happy you would need senses to have feeling
