How do you know if a DVD recorder comes with a DV connector (plug in camcorder-to make a DVD)?

It would say that it does. Sometimes this port is labeled as Firewire, IEEE 1394 or DV. This DVD recorder: http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-recorders/samsung-dvd-r135-dvd/4505-9141_7-31778396.html?ar=o&tag=pdtl-list includes one so that you can plug in your camcorder ( as long as it is digital8 or Mini DV) and record to DVD. Plus it's cheep at $70.

right, check the specs. i have had DVD recorders that come both with and without DV connections.

You read the specification for the recorder - paying special attention to the list of connections.
