I am not arguing that some of the global warming scientists aren't alarmists, but some of what they are finding are facts that are hard to dispute. It is very much a subject that needs a lot more research.
What people forget is that Global Warming is a theory. It has some facts that support it but we don't know why not everything matches up. It is something that we should do something about. Nobody wants to live in a polluted world whether Global Warming proves to be fact or not. We should also watch this carefully because too much change too quickly would cause problems with our subsistance patterns (crops, etc.). In my opinion, it is better to be safe than sorry.
I think we also need to watch the ice melting (which is a fact to a point). We don't want the melting ice to change the thermohaline circulation too much, and we don't want enough land based ice to melt and cause a rise in sea level. This would prove disasterous for more than just New Orleans and Venace.
So, I certainly agree that we should study this further, I also agree that some Global Warming scientists can be a bit alarmist in nature. But we should take them with a grain of salt. I would hate to not head their warning only to find out that they were right.

No. Forget the political stuff and the "logical" arguments. Just look at the numbers and the science.
Most of the arguments can be answered simply by this. Yes, there have been natural climate changes before, mostly due to the Sun. But the data clearly shows that, starting about 40 years ago, man's contribution overwhelmed the natural forces that caused climate before.
This is a nice picture, includes the effect of the Sun, and there are many more scientific studies showing the same thing.

None of the other explanations works nearly as well. The scientific equations don't work for them. The numbers come out wrong. Most questions are answered here:

Without wishing to sound disrespectful it's clear that you don't understand a great deal about science.
We can be certain that carbon dioixide, along with the other greenhouse gases, contribute to global warming because they've been studied and their physical properties determined. This was first done over 100 years ago and is an experiment that can be conducted in any university science lab, I've done it myself many times.
The science behind it is actually quite simple - short wavelength solar radiation (sun rays) easily passes through our atmosphere but the longer wavelegth thermal radiation (heat from Earth) gets impeded by the large molecules in the atmosphere. The more of these molecules there are (greenhouse gases) the more heat is trapped - it's effectively insulation and works on the same principle as putting on a thermal jacket or wooly jumper on a cold day.
If this didn't happen our planet would have no natural greenhouse effect and would be so cold that life would never have evolved.
You say that 'these people have it all wrong', I assume you're unable to validate this statement either with any links to other sites or using your own explanation. You might wish that it was wrong but that doesn't make it wrong.

Over the Earths history, temperature has changed. In that you are right. However, according to the natural changes of the Earth, we should now be entering another ice age. We are not, the Earth is getting warmer instead of colder. We are in hotter water than we think. And if the oil industry offered you great gobs of money, wouldn't you say what that asked you to, after all, it's not going to affect you. (Just don't retire to Florida.)

This is more scary than global warming ,
the fact that so many think like this
And remember the Piri Reis maps (it showed Antarctica with out ice and fitted like a glove over pictures taken from space of the same area )
there were people flying high up in the sky BEFORE THE LAST ICE AGE
Who knows what other technology existed
You wont laugh that much when the price of beer hits the roof because of watershortage and food is hard to get hold of

Carbon dioxide makes the temperatures go up and down. We have been releasing lots of carbon dioxide into the air. That is how scientists know it is the carbon dioxide.
Sheesh. This question deserves an award for being one the dumbest ever asked on here. Are scientists stupid? Are you joking?
Edit: And no, when the ice age was over it wasn't humans driving their cars. It was the carbon dioxide. Again.

Global Warming is caused by two factors.
The first is natural forces over which we have no control.
The natural forces over which we have no control ended the last ice age.
The second component is Global Warming caused by human activity. Mostly carbon dioxide emitted as a result of burning fossil fuels.
The amount of cutback needed in carbon dioxide emissions worldwide to stop or prevent the component of Global Warming that is caused by carbon dioxide emissions is so large that it is not realistic to achieve the amount of the cutback that is required.
We do need to start planning how we will deal with the consequences of Global Warming.
The seas will rise. We will need to help people in low lying areas with the building of the dikes that they will need for protection from the rising sea levels. for those areas that cannot be protected by dikes, we need to help those populations relocate to higher ground.
There will be more hurricanes and they will be stronger.
We need to help people with their disaster preparedness to cope with the more numerous and stronger hurricanes.
There will be areas that will suffer drought. We will need to assist those areas with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.
Global Warming is inevitable. We cannot stop it, however we can mitigate the negative effects of Global Warming if we start our planning now.

You obviously know nothing about climate science or global warming, and you're calling climate scientists idiots? How many Ph.D.'s do you have, exactly?
I'm not even going to bother to explain to you how we know global warming is primarily caused by humans, because you're convinced it's not the case, probably based on what Rush Limbaugh tells you.
Grow up.

Silly, it's not about the warming trends, it's about the rate of change. It's increasing in temperature much much faster than in the past.
