Ask at your local pro shop - prices vary. If they're your first pair, just buy them from the pro shop. Once you add in sizing, adjustments, and sharpening, it's the SAME PRICE as buying over the internet and they fit much better.

Most pro shops stock good beginner skate sets for $70-100. If you're tall or heavy, get the better skate. The cheaper skates won't provide adequate support and you'll end up buying a better pair of skates or quitting the sport out of frustration.

Good figure skate sets cost $150-$250, depending on the blade. These are stock boot-and-blade combinations.

Advanced figure skates cost $300-500. (You buy the blade separately.)

Custom figure skates cost $600 or more. Part of that cost is also the blade, which is purchased separately.

It depends on what kind you want, what you want to do with them, and how much you weigh/how tall you are. If you're taking beginning classes, and you think you want to continue past that, then don't go to a sports store. Instead, go to your rink's pro shop or to a store that specializes in fitting skates.
The skate fitter will probably recommend a pair of skates with blades that may cost somewhere between $60 and $300. Just make sure the boots are leather - not plastic and not the kind that look like sneakers. And the bigger you are, the stronger boot you will need, and the more it will cost.
Also, keep in mind that if you continue, you will need to upgrade the boots and blades. So you may want to start with something that is of good quality and can last you a little while. If you buy the cheapest ones now, you may have to get new ones in a few months.

All the skates on the link listed below are good brands (but don't get the Softec if you want to do more than just skate around in circles). Riedell and Jackson are known for making good beginner's skates.

Ice skates cost different amounts of money, but anyone that says $600.00 is someone who isn't buying skates for a beginner. If you are just starting classes and maybe renting skates you should be able to get a decent pair for about a hundred dollars, make sure to get them properly fitted. Ask around at your club for used skates or about someone who can fit you for new skates. Good luck with the skates and your skating!!

How Much Are Ice Skates

I'm sure the people at the skate shop will be happy to assist you by recommending skates to you based on your skating level and body size.

First hand skates can cost up to $1000 if it's a high-end pair. And since you need to attach blades to the boots, the blades may cost you another $500 to $700.

If you have a budget constrain, you can ask the skate shop if they carry any second hand skates that you can try. I bought my pair (a pair of second hand RF2 Supers + Club 99 blades) at $60.

A decent pair of beginner skates costs about $100. You can see if there are other skates at the rink selling their old skates (because they've grown out of them or they are too worn out for them, but they should be broken in enough for a beginning skater, but not too broken down)...they usually cost a little less. I paid about $550 for my last pair of skates, and you can really spend as much money as you would like on skates...they are expensive. I would suggest a pair of Riedell Red or Blue Ribbon for the beginning skater or a pair of Jackson Classique skates. I would talk to your local pro shop about getting a pair of skates.

Don't buy the cheapest pair you can. You will regret that decision. Go with a brand name, entry level model. For hockey skates, I got a pair of Bauers for about $100. I don't know about figure skates.

But don't buy from anywhere but a skate shop for your first purchase. You won't go wrong. Expect between 100 to maybe 150 dollars.

ice skates have a large range of costs. it really depends on what level that you are in. skates can cost anywhere from $100 to over a thousand dollas. my advice to you is not to but the cheapest pair either because if you do that then they wont be a very good qualitly.

if you aren't doing jumps yet (or not more than a bunny hop or ballet jump), you should get a good pair of beginning skates, usually around $50-$150. buy them from a skate shop and not off the Internet. Some good brands are Jackson, Riedell, and SP Teri.

hope this helps and good luck!
