I'm not a nutritionist, but I think starvation diets can mess with the body's metabolism and really mess up the balance of enzymes and other nutrients within the body. Another problem is, with the body in starvation mode, the body will try to store anything she eats as fat. Thirdly at such a young age your friend should be learning how to live a healthy active lifestyle, dieting should never be seen as a short term solution, but instead as a realistic permanent change in eating habits.
One of the best ways to lose weight while maintaining healthy eating habits is to split your meals into smaller snacks(like 5 throughout the day). It will keep the body's metabolism up all day which will burn more fat.
Finally, if you begin to suspect that your friend really is suffering from anorexia you should let an adult know who can help her. Anorexia causes permanent damage to the body, and is much harder to treat the longer your friend suffers with it. Good luck.

If your friend feels like she is overweight, why doesn't she change the way she is eating and exercising? Start eating healthy and exercisign more. That seems to be a healthier way to make a change. She can easily drop 2 pounds a week and reach her goal in 2-3 months. And, if she does it slowly, her new skinny body will stay with her FOREVER. Yeah!!!!

If her parents can't figure it out, which would be kind of disturbing, maybe you should let them know so they can try and fix it. Encourage her to eat and force her into situations where it would be wierd if she didn't eat. Start her with a salad, then get her back to food. I doubt that many 13 year old girls will have the will power to not eat, but this is pretty serious, it is a mental problem... Good luck!

What will happen is that when she does eat, her body wi absorb the fat because it is starving. That's not a healthy way to loose weight. Our body's need food because it gives us energy. Just like a car needs gas. She is going to make herself sick. she obviously has low self esteem. If you are a friend to her, you should encourage her not to do this. If she thinks shes fat, she needs to exercise and eat healthy. She sounds like she is on her way to a long painful eating disorder which also results in mental anguish. You need to tell her parents. She may be mad at you even hate you, but if you care about her, you won't just stand by and let her harm herself. I know its easy to say " I wish I was as skinny as so and so", but the reality is, is that we are all shaped differently and should love ourselves and what we were given. You need to tell her parents asap!!!

She will lose weight, but will gain weight from anything she eats. Her metabolism will slow down dramatically making any food turn automatically into fat.
She will also die a slow death, her hair will start to fall out, she will develop baby hair to try to keep the body warm...Her fingernails will turn blue. Blood will only be pumped to the big organs, meaning any other part of her body won't get blood.

if you're her true friend:
tell her to shut the F% up.
make her eat!
tell her if she is your friend or you're her friend then she HAS to eat.
watch her eat it!!!!
and go on a healthy diet together, and set up work out hours!
encourage her there are better ideas to lose weight if she really wants it, tell her to work for it!
reasons:
-its unhealthy
-unsafe
-yucky (yeah, immature but WHATVEVER!)
*whats the point in losing weight if you might die from the method??
if you lose weight, you might get addicted and keep at it and then eventually get weak and die.
think i am kidding?
ask any unhealed past anorexic person.
YOU CAN'T!
most likely they're unhealthy and/or dead!

If she wants to loose weight she needs to do it healthily. Not eating is not healthy.
She should try going to Weight Watchers and learn how to eat in a healthy manner to loose the weight.
