Jesus told his followers to remain no part of the world and fled when people tried to crown him as king. Based on the Bible's teachings as a whole, patriotism has no place in true Christian worship. As a true Christian, I do not, nor will I ever, get involved in politics.

Absolutely not. Separation of church and state protects the non-christains. besides, if we let any christian extremists into the government, we might find ourselves in a nation where all gay people go to a mandatory rehab.
btw, nice comparison with the middle east

Patriotism and worship do not mix. Christians should worship no person/government/thing besides God.
Being patriotic and Christian do mix. There is no conflict there. "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caeser's, and to God the things that are God's." - Jesus

Certainly not. At no time did Jesus or his followers encourage patriotism (a narrow-minded hatred of other peoples). Everywhere and always murder in its every form is forbidden; and yet, under the guise of patriotism the civil governments of earth demand that peace-loving men sacrifice themselves and kill their fellowmen and they hail it as a duty demanded by the laws of heaven.
Jesus taught us to love one another, including our enemies. True Christians do not engage in politics or war. They remain completely neutral just as Jesus did.

The "higher intelligence" is concerned with all mankind - not just one nation or another. What we know as the world should be our concern since that is where we are. Hopefully there are souls all over the world that are beginning to realize this.

I dont have a problem with patriotism in Christian worship because they can do what they want. I have a HUGE problem with Christian worship being pulled into patriotism.

No. I believe that we have a higher calling and are citizens of God's Kingdom.
Jesus said: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God".
As a pastor, I take no political stand from the altar.

What I have always seen in the Christian churches was paying respect to the country. The American flag was always displayed in the sanctuary.
What we are seeing in the Middle East is Fanaticism.... Not patriotism. They are so wrapped up in their fanatic beliefs they are willing to kill others who do not believe like them.

I hate Nationalism. That is why I do not like Abraham Lincoln. Despite the fact that my ancestors were associated with him.

i'm ok with it.
A lot of the time i think my county is better than others because of its christian heritige.
Christianity by definition is good so i dont see how pride in christianity can lead to anything bad because if i did something bad i would stop being a christian, the very thing i'm proud about.
