ok you guessed it im a christian, and i have quite a few friends who are some form of a vegetarian. so i really am thinking about it, but is it wrong for christians to be vegetarians, because with my parents that would be a thin line to walk.

but i am really thinking about becoming one because i didn't relize how bad it was for us to eat meat.

but that is my question is it a sin to be a vegetarian, like saying it is in the bible?

No, it is not a sin to be a vegetarian. What is wrong is to think that non-vegetarianism is wrong. Read Genesis chapter 9. While non-vegetarianism is not wrong, I do not see anything wrong with vegetarianism too. As long as your friends try not to push their veggie ideas on you or vise-versa. If you as a christian feel upset by their stance as non-meat eaters, then re-examine yourself. Likewise for them. Sure there are some gains to no longer eating meat. Why do you think the Nazarite vow is basically veggie diet? But never ever push your translation of Christianity onto another believer. In Christianity there are certain areas that all true Christians must be 100% accurate on: The Resurrection of Christ. Yet there are others that are more unspecific...vegetarians are in that area...that's my humble opinion.
Another area that has been brought to my attention deals with Cain and Abel. Never agree that vegetarianism is wrong based on Cain...that was not his problem. He refused to give to GOD from his first fruits...he gave from the leftovers which was wrong to do. It was NOT that he chose only to deal with veggies. I hope that this helps you...

A sin? No. I know a number of Christian vegetarians. Some of them are Seventh Day Adventists, but many are not. I've heard the argument from some vegetarians that in the Biblical creation narrative, plants were given humanity to eat, not animals. I've also met people who believe that eating meat is sinful. I, myself, eat meat, but have nothing against people who choose not to. Eat whatever you like.

Well ok, I am a veg. with a couple of christian veg. friends.I am not very religious, but i do know that is is not a sin. Im not sure where or how it was said, but i know that in the bible it does say it if okay to eat in animal, when in need. This happened somewhere around noah's ark when food was short. Well, today we have enough food and resources to not eat corpses. Christianit teaches to love gods each other and all of His creations. Do what your heart wants and if it turns out to actually be sinful, ask yourself this : Out of all the horrible things you could do in life is taking no part in massacre really so terrible?

It is not a sin to simply wish to not eat a certain food, meat or vegetable.

God declared meat good to eat right after the flood waters receded. Prior to that all humans and animals were vegetarians.

We will once again, return to our vegetarian state after the tribultion is over and the new heaven and the new earth come down and replace this sin torn and worn one.

The only sin that I can see biblically is declaring your way of vegetarian eating the only way. God clearly told us in the bible that all food was now clean and good to eat in the book of Acts. It never says that we must eat meat, it just states that we can.

I've never heard that it was a sin to be a vegetarian. Good luck with your choice. I tried to do the vegetarian thing for awhile, but got sick to the point where I was hospitalized due to severe anemia. So be really careful and make sure you eat the proper amounts of the proper nutrients that your body needs. Hire a nutritionist if you can.

Huh? Im Christian and had absolutly no idea that the Bible said you had to 100% eat meat no matter what. I wouldnt worry about it, if you want to be vegetarian then go for it, I dont see why thats a problem in the Christian religion.

It is not a sin at all. It wasn't until after the Flood of Noah's day that humans even were allowed to eat meat. Just be balanced--do the research, make sure you eat enough protein (It is possible, but you have to be balanced), and if you don't feel you can just jump in, eliminate one form of animal products a week.

When I was a vegetarian, people gave me a lot of grief about it. "The Bible says you should eat meat." "Jesus ate fish, Jesus was a fisherman." The first part, I don't believe to be true. Yes, Jesus ate fish, but Jesus was also a Jew (yet we are encouraged to be Christians)....my point is, we don't have to do everything Jesus did in order to be religious. If you decide to go veggie, you should be proud of that. It's a big sacrifice and a noble one at that! Your heart will be healthier, your body will be purer, and you'll be saving the lives of animals. Give it a whirl!

It's not a sin to be a vegetarian. I was one for a long time. I still am for the most part. One of my friends is and he goes to my church. If your parents have a cow about it, just don't until you're out of the house. And for now practice it away from home.

As with a lot of things in the bible, it's open for interpretation, but one interpretation is that humans are the stewards of the earth and have "dominion" over other animals. I don't agree with the Christian view on other living creatures which was one of several reasons why I converted to Hinduism.
