I understand that you may be on a budget and think you will be saving by buying a less expensive brand of food but most dog foods that come with a cheaper price tag actually end up costing more because you need to feed more of it to meet the dogs feeding requirements.
IMO, it is best to buy the best dog food you can afford and dog foods brands like Purina, pedigree, Ol Roy, Iams, Science Diet, Nutro and etc, are garbage in a bag.
If it is available in your area Diamond Naturals dog food is decent and is reasonably priced, only the Naturals. Petsmart has a food Called Authority harvest Baked that is decent, they also carry Nature's recipe, which is not bad. These are not the best but are better than the brands listed above.
You should really look into foods like Canidae, Blue Buffalo, and Avoderm because they are not really that much more expensive then some of the other names I have mentioned.
These are really good if you want to check them out: Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, Innova Evo, California Natural and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. These are 100% human grade dog food with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved.

NONE of those dog foods are healthy. Ol'Roy is like feeding your dog DIRT. It has no nutritional value, at all.
I agree with the other answer: go to Nutro or Solid Gold .. Blue Buffalo. Those are the 3 BEST out of the petstore.

Ol'Roy had some recalls on their treats; I would not trust any of their food.
If you MUST purchase food at Wal-Mart get the Maxximum Nutrition Lamb and Rice, it is relatively inexpensive (though more than Ol'Roy) but it does not contain wheat, corn, or soy, all of which cause allergies,

I feed my Greyhound Ol'roy high performance and have had no problems. I don't use the caned dog food ever! I think caned food is messy, smelly and has no redeaming features at all.

Purina and Beneful is good, but expensive brands are of course much better. You want your dog to be healthy and get a lot of vitamins, you should get good brand names like Pedigree, Iams.....

I find that at Walmart their store brand is okay. My large breed dog likes it and his poops are not runny. The first ingredient is not corn meal, and the fillers are kept to a minumim. i think it is called Olroy.

I have fed ol'roy to my dogs for about 8 years now and the vet says they are very healthy and I've never had any health issues.
