The point was that she got a kick out of knowing someone likes her, even though she wasn't available.
You don't need a liar. Drop it, and her.

Sounds as if she did not want to hurt your feelings. She figured if she gave you a sad story about being hurt you would understand and let it go. Being honest about it would have been the best thing for her to do. That says a lot about her. Sounds like the best thing for you. I have a problem with her best friend telling you something like that. Do you really know it is true that she had a boyfriend or you basing this off her friend statements. Let it go. Everyone lies for what ever reason. It is so much harder to lie then to tell the truth. A lie always bite you in the long run.

Settle down little bro! You have no reason to be upset. You learned something about her that you don't like. She doesn't owe anyone an explanation. Is it your business if she is seeing someone? No! So she doesn't owe you an explanation either. You asked her out. She could have just said NO and left it at that. If you asked her why, she could just say "because I don't want to". You see, quit expecting entitlements you are not entitled to. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you would be wise to consider my words.

Well the first thing I have to say is, to the person below me left, how rude of you. And secondly, my idea of the whole thing is maybe she was just trying to be nice, she was probably to scared to tell you "no", on account that it may hurt your feelings. I understand how you feel though. It would have been better for her to tell you head first that she was with someone, but sometimes you have to see things through the other persons eyes. Hope everything works out! =]!

I really am not sure, but maybe she liked you too and didn't wantto spoil her chances later if something were to go wrong w/her and her bf. Another possibility is she was trying to be tactful being u are her "close friend." If you are her close friend....u didn't know she had a bf? Maybe she doesn't want to ruin your friendship if you guys do end up dating and have a mishap. These are all "maybes",but i hope they helped.

Maybe she was trying not to hurt you.
Some people are better off as friends. She was being a coward by not telling you the truth, but a females mind is a strange tool.

well....yes that was infact wrong to lie to u, buuut mabey she just didnt want to hurt you!, some girls just feel really bad when a guy has the guts to ask a girl out by them selves, and then she might not like you and just said no, but in a different way of matter, just so she dosnt hurt you, its ok...just move on :)
you'll meet better people promise!!

She may not have liked you in that way or did not want to hirt your feelings. For example, she may have thought you would think why you were not good enough. Or she may not want to lose your friendship which makes you even closer to her.
