I need some exercises that are both easy and very effective. Something that you can possibly do at home.

Depends on what you're trying to do.

For general conditioning, so that you start to look and feel healthy, have more energy during the day, try these VERY easy exercises:

Deep knee bend - for thies, lower back, shoulders:
- Start standing up
- Raise your arms overhead
- Bend both knees and lower your arms at the same time.
- Keep bending till your thigh is about parallel to the floor and your arms are at your sides and a little behind your body.
- Reverse the motion and stand up with your arms again over your head.
- Breathe in as you bend your knees, and out as you straighten up

Do these in sets of 10; when 10 becomes easy, add another 10.


For stomach - This is crucial, since it supports your lower back.
- Lie on the foor (use a yoga mat or do it on a padded carpet)
- Bend both knees till your foot lies flat on the floor
- lift your shoulder blades and torso off the floor, being careful to round your back (lift your shoulders first) as you go
- Don't lift too far...as soon as the lowest part of your shoulder blades are off the floor, lower your self and repeat.

Do these in sets of 10; when that becomes easy, add 10 more.

Aerobic exercise is good for support of your lungs and heart
- Do jumbing jacks or run in place (or both alternately) while holding a 5 lb weight in each hand. Weights can be purchased at Kmart, Target, etc.
- Do this for 10 - 20 minutes at a time, three times per week.

Try dancing once or twice per week...it's so enjoyable, most people don't even think of dancing as exercise. I always without fail, raise my heart and break a sweat when I dance.

If you have the space Jumping rope is the ultimate. Not only does it work everything, you will get fast results.

crunches-like situps, just going up half way
situps
pushups
leg lunges
jump rope
