Is it possible to do things like hurt someone that you've only met online? Are you dating even though you never met each other? I try not to take online stuff too seriously. How serious should you be?

i have been on-line dating since i was 13 im 17 now. and no u shouldnt take it seriously. unless u guys start talking on the phone, or plan on to meet. then u should sorta look at it seriously. there is also the aspect of u really dont know what they do in their free time. hence meaning they could be seeing someone else. plus u never know what their true identity and self unless u meet and get to know each other.
i never am 1,000% serious with my on-line relationships, but i do try to be some what serious but not to the point where i break down and cry when they find someone else that can cyber better than me. ur just getting the attention u need at the time cuz there isnt anyone in ur hometown that is giving u what u need. u know what i mean?

so dont behave around that person like u would around a serious bf or gf the ones u see everyday. lol.

Well there is a such thing as online dating where two people meet online and they are online girlfriend/boyfriend. And yes you can hurt people that you've met online. And I don't think you should be very serious when chatting with strangers online because you never know who is sitting at that other computer. Of course they can tell you who they are, but how do you know there telling the truth? You've never meet the person or seen the person so who knows who they really are?

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're on a dating site and are looking for a relationship, then you should take it seriously. But, if you're in a chat room at 2am because you are bored, then you can take it less seriously. You can hurt someone you've never met before by being mean and rude and saying something that's hurtful to them. Just because it's fairly anonymous doesn't mean that someone's feelings shut off. However, you should never give out too personal info.

I don't think you should be too serious online, for you have never even seen the person..in...well person. I don't think you can hurt someone on-line for people cannot hear the tone of your voice online. I personally like meeting people the old-fashioned way. Start looking, lol.

Personally I wouldn't take it to serious alot of times people like to use the Internet as an escape or just to feel good or wanted.I personally have met people who became obsessed with me but being as honest as I was I told them the truth that the possibility of ever getting together was none.

I guess it depends on the person. Some people get attached very quickly and easily.I guess it is possible to be dating without having met in person...but before you take it seriously be sure to check out the facts....and if everything checks out...go for it. Just be careful though!

As serious as you want to be.

It really doesn't matter. speaking to someone online is speaking to a stranger. You can tell them anything and it really doesn't matter because if you dont want to speak to them again, you dont. Simple.
