There are a lot of people who say that all it takes to be a Christian is to believe in Jesus, correct? Satan clearly believes in the central tenets of Christianity. He believes, for example, that Jesus, the Son of God, was sacrificed to redeem the sins of mankind--for if Satan does not believe this, why did he tempt Jesus in an effort to sabotage his divine mission? He also believes in the resurrection of Jesus, in the power of God to work miracles, and in the existence of a heaven and a hell. Satan obviously believes in Jesus, so is Satan a Christian?

I think that not only do you have to believe in Jesus and the fact that he died and rose again, but you also have to accept and love him and want him to be your Lord. If you choose to defy him or worship yourself, then that's like.. one of the things that keeps you out of Heaven, I'm pretty sure.. lol

No this is a wonderful experience given to us by God as humans. The Bible says demons will be cast out by some but they will not enter heaven, they will not have a relationship with the Father. So ONLY believing is not the correct words, and the interpretation, so believing and repenting for that is what the Lord first hears, repentance of a sinners heart...as for Satan, he was created by God, fell, thrown out of heaven along with the fallen angels and know his time is limited to draw humans to hell, it is not about us, it is him against our Lord....Satan is not a human being...nor a christian..Be blessed!

Actually, I have never heard anyone say that all you have to do is "believe in Jesus" as in believe that he existed. It is usually said that you have to believe that Jesus died for your sins, that he was the son of God and/or God himself (depending on which denomination of Christian you talk to) and that you have to admit that you are a sinner in need of salvation, and then accept Jesus "free" gift of salvation.
I don't believe any of that, but that is the gist of what I understand many Christians of the evangelial/fundamentalist/born again variety. I have never heard anyone say that believing in the existence of Jesus make one a Chrisitian.
I don't believe in Satan, but I don't think he has ever been protrayed in the Chrisitan tradition as a Christian.

I love your debate and your question. I could agree with your debate but I will go the opposite way.
Yes he knows that Jesus is the Son of God and that he is real. But technically to be a christian you need to be working to become Christ like. Thats the definition. Believing there was a christ doesnt make you a christian, following his examples and what he was trying to teach does.
So my side of the debate, I say no Satan is not a christian *technically*.
But I still like your question and get your point as well.

to be a christian you have to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, Satan hasn't done this. even the demons of Hell believe in Jesus and his power, but only those who accept his gift of forgiveness and salzavation are christians.

In order to be a Christian, you have to have accepted Jesus into your heart, Satan didn't, so I don't think he qualifies as a Christian.

NO! Satan is against Christianity. He believes because he knows that it is true, he is also the one that is fighting against it. He wants no one to be a Christian!

Very good question, but you left out one thing, a Christian is someone who also follows the teachings of Christ and strives to be like him. Satan does not do that. he tries to destroy those who do.
