I went for a bike ride today that was about 8 miles long and not very hill-y. But I kept getting really tired and had to stop because I was having trouble breathing-my breaths were short and shallow and my head hurt a lot. My heart was beating fast too. I don't exercise much but the other person who went with me didn't have any trouble. My heart has been stable for a year now (recovering from severe malnutrition) so I don't know what to make of this...

i think you take small steps while exercising
exercise a little at first like just walk around your block, then slowly add more exercise each week.
your body probably isn't used to a lot of exercise yet.
don't suddenly give yourself a huge work-out.

You have to kinda work into something like that. You can't just go out and expect to go 8 miles on your first run and not feel crappy and overworked. :) Work into it slowly. Do a mile a few times a week. Then increase it to 2 miles, then 3, and so on.
