and not God. Jesus was GOD, he came to earth in human form.
Why don't they believe that, and do they have the right to call themselves Christians.?
Should they call themselves something else,
and if so what should they be called.
When someone tells me they are a christian,
I believe them, I don't think for a minute I am talking to a JW, are they giving false impressions definitely YES. (Should they stop
YES)

I am stating a fact, that some people who do not believe that Jesus Christ was God,
are calling themselves Christians, after Christ.

To clear things up I believe in the trinity.
I believe Jesus Christ was God.
I believe people who do not believe Jesus Christ was God should not call themselves Christians.

You are correct Suzie.

Jesus said, "Unless you believe that I AM you will die in the sins of you" (Literal translation of the Greek Text)

He deliberately referenced the burning bush passage of Exodus 3:14

He knew exactly how it would be received. Many times in His ministry He would use the "I AM" phrase. Usally in conjunction with some other idea that He wanted to get across.

"I AM the Door....I AM the Light... I AM the Living Water...etc, etc"

This time He let it stand alone.
Why?
Because He wanted to make sure that there was mistake about Who He was.
And His enemies understood exactly what He meant.
They had a choice; They could either fall down and worship Him, or they could attempt to stone Him for blasphemy.

They chose the latter.

People make a lot of inaccurate statements about the origin of the Doctrine. You will hear them say, that it was formulated by the early Church, or by Constantine. None of that is true.
You can tell by reading the letters of the New Testament that it was already believed in the First Century.

In fact, that is why no where in the N.T. does it ever attempt to prove the Doctrine. It just ASSUMES it. That is how you know that it was already believed. The assumption of the Doctrine is on practilly every page of the N.T.

You even see it in the Gospels with the confession of Thomas;
"The Lord of me and The God of me"

Thomas uses BOTH greek words for God.
Kurios and Theos. And the definite article (the) is in front of BOTH words.
(That by the way, DESTROYS the Watchtower argument of John 1:1)

So, you are entirely correct when you say that people who dont believe it, are NOT Christians. According to Jesus in John 8:24 they are NOT.

THEY can scream that they are until they are blue in the face, call you every name in the book; "Unloving, Narrow-minded", Bigoted, etc"

It doesn't change a thing. They are NOT Christians.

This is where the Bible (and Jesus) draws "a line in the sand".
(Along with the Bodily Ressurection of our Lord)

God is not budging on THIS. Neither should you, and neither should I

So stand your ground.

Well, God himself said that Jesus is his SON. You can verify this at Matthew 3:17.

Why do you believe that the Son and the Father along with the Holy Spirit are one...the Bible certainly doesn't say this. In fact it was introduced in the 3rd century to win over the pagans. Try doing a search on the origin of the Trinity doctrine.

Should a person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God and not God the Son be called a Christian? You should ask yourself this...Does the person act like Jesus did? If so, then most certainly YES!

You are entitled to your opinion but I would advise you (in agreement with audrey O) to research the origins of the Trinity if you really want an honest answer.
Jesus himself said he was the son of God many times.
I find the Trinity doctrine unacceptable mainly because of the origins of it but I am a Christian. Who are you to say otherwise? Would you like it if I said that you are not a Christian for believing Jesus is God when he never actually stated that fact?

Well you have to look carefully at what the Bible says about Jesus and not later traditions

Jesus says he is the son of God in th Bible:

For example MAtthew 26:63

The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ,[a] the Son of God."

"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.

Here are other versus that confirm this:
Mark 1:1

The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

John 11:4
When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."

Acts 9:20
Paul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

1 Timothy 1:2
To Timothy my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Titus 1:4
To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

John 4:15
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.

As you can see there is a distinguishing bewteen God, and Jesus Christ. God has a personal name, Jehovah (used by Jehovah's Witnesses as you mention). This name is used 6000+ times in the Old testament. You will never see Jesus referred to as Jehovah.

yes Jesus said you seen me you seen the Father. he was with Jehovah God for billions of years so he knows his Father real well. my daughter looks like me but she is not me. she knows me real well. Jesus prayed to his Father in the heaven. many times he said that he cannot do anything without the Father in the heaven. when he was on the stake, Jesus Christ said Father it is done. when Jesus was baptized, Jehovah came down like a dove and said this is my son the beloved. they are not the same. Jehovah is the Father, Jesus Christ is the son who is seating at the right hand of Jehovah and the Holy Spirit, is Jehovah's Active Force. they are not three. learn about Jehovah and Jesus at www.watchtower.org

Well If Jesus isn't God the son to the person you're talking to then I would very much doubt they are Christ ones. Jesus is the Son part of the triune God head which includes God the Father and God the Holy spirit. Ummm some call the Holy spirit a power force but the bible says the Holy spirit has attributes of person hood so that's another one to look out for.

Has your cat got an eye condition. As it's always wearing glasses ummmmm unless that's an outside picture ohhhhh silly me. mwha ha ha ha

Jehovah's CHRISTIAN Witnesses Believe that Jesus is the SON OF GOD ; Because the New Testament says that in MANY PLACES.

MANY PLACES

MANY PLACES

Whereas the ONLY Scripture that says that Jesus is God is SOME FALSE Biblical Translations of John 1:1

The King James Version of John 1:1 says "and the Word was God"; BUT THIS CANNOT Be an ACCURATE Translation of John 1:1 BECAUSE John 1:18 OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE says that NO ONE has Seen God at ANYTIME ! ! !

Since THE BIBLE says that DURING His Ministry THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE Saw Jesus THEN Bible Versions that say "the Word Was God" are PROVEN TO BE FALSE ! ! !

In a SIMILAR VEIN OF THOUGHT ALL Translations of the Bible will say in HUNDREDS Of Places that the Soul CAN DIE; But you WILL NOT Find ONE Place of ANY Bible Translation that says that the "Soul CANNOT Ever Die".

The next time Jehovah's CHRISTIAN Witnesses come to your door PLEASE BE OPEN MINDED so that FINALLY you'll receive God's Holy Spirit and UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE

Best Wishes

When Jesus was baptised God spoke from heaven saying 'This is my son'. Jesus spoke about His Father in Heaven and said 'The father and I are one' John's Gospel begins with 'In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God' A few verses later it says 'And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us'. The bible makes it quite clear that Father and Son are both God but completely different manifestations of Him. The bible also includes the person of the Holy Spirit as the third person of God.

Because Paul said it was true.

And even though he never met with Jesus and famously feuded with Peter over dogma, Paul must be correct.

He just MUST be, right?

2007-06-30 16:59:36 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 3 0

He is technically both. He is literally the son of God, and also the father.

And I don't appreciate you saying that people who believe that don't have the right to call themselves Christians. Who are you to say that? Never does it say that if you think Jesus was the son of God-which he is-you are wrong.
