I don't know a good shampoo but I have long hair that needs serious detangling and I have found the very best product to me Johnson&Johnson's No More Tangles (it's for kids but it works on adult hair awesome!!!)

I would have to agree with Elle... I use that brand of detangler and it's sooo gentle because it's made for kids!
Also, I find that using shampoo with a coordinating CONDITIONER helps cut down on tangles.
When you wash your hair, rub the shampoo in your hands to make it sudsy, then massage it into your scalp (don't mess with your hair too much). After you rinse the shampoo, use a coordinating conditioner and leave it in for 3-5 minutes (I find this is a good time to shave my legs and underarms). Then rinse out the conditioner, again without messing up your hair. Just make sure you get it all out. Then, when you're fixing your hair later, use the detangler, and poof! No more tangles. Hope this helps.

My daughters hair is wavy and long and gets knotted a lot. She uses Sleek look by Matrix. It's in an orange bottle and she conditions and combs it out in the shower with the conditioner in it and then rinses it out after combing out the knots. Her hair is virtually knot free when she is ready to dry it.

If you have a sensitive scalp I would use Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo either the lavender scented one or their signature smelling one, and if you have jsut a thick head of unruly and tangly hair I would use Biolage smoothing shampoo and conditioner. After you shampoo and condition, I would use the Johnson and Johnson no more tangles spray and use a wide tooth comb to get out all of the tangles. Either one works great, but Biolage is a little bit pricier then Johnson and Johsnon.

Shampoo only cleans your hair. Conditioner is what moisturizes and nourishes your hair for soft shiny healthy hair. I reccomend Sunsilk Hydra TLC. While conditioning put lots of it and comb with a wide tooth comb then leave up to 2-5 minutes then rinse with super cold water.

Well I dont think the type of shampoo is as important as the type of conditioner you should use on your hair for your knots. Try Ouidad products...works great for curly hair.

use pantiene pro v it works great try conditioning your hair twice and then wash your hair with shampoo a couple of times so that your hair doesn't get knotty then comb through your hair while your in the shower a couple of times so that all the rats are out if they arent out then wash your hair agian and comb your hair agian after you get out of the shower comb through your hair and then brush it your hair might be knotty because its not clean enough. try that and see if it works.

I'm the same as you... I use any kind of set of shampoo and conditioner and then if it is still knotty then buy some spray-on conditioner for dry hair. =)

Use a balsam conditioner or I use Neutrogena Conditioner or CitruShine Conditioner. It makes it really smooth without being greasy!!!
