I am looking a common ground for all Denominations, Atheists, Pagans, or those who have no strong feelings about spiritual beliefs. Is there one universal taboo, no exceptions or "situations" under which the act or behavior might be considered proper?

Suicide, my question was addressed to whoever is represented on this site. Unless one of the pedophiles is posting here condoning such an abomination, they don't get a vote. I am asking for something we, as a diversified group can agree on an absolute evil. I hate racism, but have to accept that it is a command in some religions to despise another race or religion.

Dr. Alice vonHildebrand said she had a young Jewish girl in her class that argued with her that there was no such thing as objective morality. She told her that means that those who perpetrated the Holocaust didn't necessarily do anything wrong. It was just a matter of how they felt about it.

She said she didn't hear any more from the young lady that there was no such thing as objective morality.

At first glance i thoughht "Yes!" of course there is something that all people, regardless of religion, could agree is wrong, like the raping of a child, but when you said that there are no situations under which the act might be considered appropriate then I think no. I'm sure someone could always come up with some thing or some extreme situation under which the act would be deemed ok, for whatever reason. Just the way it goes, stuff can always be justified, this is why we have jurys.

I can say what I think is morally wrong at all times, but thinking about other religions, and those not associated with religion, I know the things I feel are wrong all the time, is not the case in someone elses mind.

Unless you're a moral absolutist, no.

Different societies and religions will always view different things as taboo. Societies, for the most part, evolved independent of one another.

theoretically no. if everything is opinion and there are no absolutes nothing can be right or wrong just differences of opinion. ( sorry but the humor of those statements make me laugh and the thought some people live by them scare me.)
