i know that God loves me and He loves everyone on the earth but why did He just choose Jews as His chosen people in the old testament and not the rest of the world which were called Gentiles?

They were His choice. They were people set apart to be holy to Him, His treasured possession. For thousands of years the nations, as they called the Gentiles, went their own way and did their own thing and time and again the Jews backslid and went the way of the people around them, but the flame was never extinguished and each time they backslid through the grace of God they repented and came back to the Lord. Christians believe that all Christian believers are admitted to the new Israel, being grafted onto the vine and being new branches. However, God can never be untrue to His covenant and the Jews are still His chosen people. It is not for us to criticise His choice in any way, but let us be glad that there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for we are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28).

Mariposa gives a good Scripture - that's a good explanation the Scripture tells us. God keeps his promise to the forefathers of the Jews, because He always keeps his promises, and "God's gifts and his call are irrevocable" (Rom 11:29).

Asafaah, the same Scripture is an answer to your question. God is faithful to HIS PROMISE TO ISRAEL'S FOREFATHERS Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And He is faithful to that promise even though not all in Israel are walking in the same belief and the same relationship as the forefathers had!
Romans 9:6b-8 For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.

To give an answer to the first question: why did God choose Jews as His people in the Old Testament and not the rest of the world?
Well, God cannot make a covenant with someone who does not believe Him or answer His calling. Can a man marry a woman who neither loves him nor wanna marry him? Hardly. The same with God and us. He can only make a covenant with someone who answers His calling. And Abraham did. Also Isaac and Jacob answered His calling. And God promised them, that through them all nations would be blessed (Genesis 22.18). God needed a people to work through so that He could also reach the rest of the world! Through the Jews, Israel, the Saviour of the World would come. Jesus says in John 4:22 that "salvation is from the Jews".
According to the Bible, God has chosen only one people, and that is Israel. The apostle Paul says like this about the people of Israel, in Rom 9:4-5, "Theirs is the adoption; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen."
Read Romans chapter 11.. a good picture of how not all Israel is Israel, and how Gentiles have been grafted into Israel. There are so much more there could be said about this, but it would take too much space to do it here.

Caicos Turkey, unfortunately not all Christians believe that they have been grafted into Israel, but some believe instead that they have REPLACED Israel, and that God has abandonned Israel and now has chosen the church instead (which isn't even biblical...!!) (replacement theology)

Because he made a promise to Abraham that he would create a great nation from him because of his faithfullness.

For example, Genesis 22:15
I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."

The nations surrounding ancient Israel such as Egypt and Moab, were pagan, with an uncountable number of Gods. But the Israelites, because of their true worship of God, were an example to other nations.The Bible describes them as " a light to all nations".

Isaiah 51:4

"Listen to me, my people;
hear me, my nation:
The law will go out from me;
my justice will become a light to the nations.

The Israelites were also special in that a prophet came from them,Jesus Christ, who would spread the message of God to the gentiles directly.

He didn't; that's a Jewish belief and the basis for their sense of superiority which today carries on even with secular jews,or most. God offers salvation to all through Christ,without distinction as to race,ethnicity,nationality or income. All are - so to speak - welcome at the table. Judaism was intended as an exclusivist ethnic religion,which is what is has remained. Unfortunately for them,they genetically dissipated or were absorbed so they failed to preserve their original ethnicity,and as far as their religion is concerned,of the only 13 millions jews on earth,more than half are atheists. There are as many members of the Bahai Faith as there are practicing Jews.

Because God likes to take the lowest of the low, the weakest of the weak, and the poorest of the poor, and raise them up to greatness by his divine presence ... and he had to start somewhere.

Jesus was a jew. But surprisingly, the jews were the ones who betrayed Him! Who knew??? Also, all of His disciples and the people who followed Him were Jews!
