End is the begining and begining is the end .All of us have seen the begining . We forget the begining as we get entangled with this world .The guru shows us the path of progress because we are totally dazed . We think that we are progressing in a spiritual path The real guru creates a game that you have to progress but inside he knows that we are finding the begining which we think is the end . WHERE WE HAVE COME FROM WE GO BACK .End is the begining.Begining is the end.Progress is just the appearance and the game played with you by the END.

Mind has no end and it can not be kept at end. It can be asked to be quiet by education. If you note, only one thought wave arises at aone time. After it is subsided the another one comes up on the surface. This most minute time gap is to be increased by yogic processes. When one thought is in action and returns to subside, as the mind 'what did you get there?' It has no answer hence it will pause. Then there will be another thought. Don't stop it in between and when it will come to subside, ask the same question, there will be no answer. Thus mind itself will come to the conclusion that I have to answer the intellect for every thought hence better to be quiet. This will take days together but don't losse hopes. When will come to rest, it will be like Samadhi or Concentration and then your Aradhana will be fruit-bearing. Quietness of mind is itself a goal in devotion or spirituality. Quiet mind helps to progreess in Aradhana / Penance a lot.

In my opinion Yes we need to have a goal -

If we get into a taxi and say "go" he'll ask us "go where?????"

But if we insist on going we could end up in the middle of nowhere

THE VEDA HAVE 3 DIVISION

I know of Srimad Bhagavatam so I'll refer to it

1-Sambandha
2-abhideya
3-proyojana

Sambhanda means relationship to theses 3 aspects the jiva-living entities, God, and the material world

Abidheya means the process to attain the goal

and Proyojana is the goal it self

In the Bhagavatam there are 12 canto/parts

1-9 =the sambhanda 10 =proyojana and 11th canto= abhideya (12th-is glorification)

so in this sequence the goal(proyojana) comes before the process (abhideya)

This is often if not always the same way for material things - If you want to be a doctor fix your goal at a young age then accept the proper means to achieve that goal ie- going to med school ect.

Having said this I do understand The point of view others are coming from.In one way we are always evolving and every path is unique

But if we more refinly observe any school of thought these 3 aspects of understanding will be there

Said simply is - Know where your at ---------fix a goal-------
figure out the way to achive your goal............................

It is not the most important thing to keep the end in mind.

Spirituality is about posessing a 'good will'.

Doing things selflessly, not for greedy and selfish reasons.

Respecting your fellow man.

Doing the right thing at the right time REGARDLESS of the outcome/end.

That is all we can be expected to do.

And doing the right thing, without expecting a reward.

First is to understand what is the purpose of life itself... then set a goal we want to achieve, but not to crave... to travel, but go nowhere... and to arrive, without leaving :-)

Yes, it is about progress. Without progress we can never reach our goals... and our goals are also our progress at its own right.

Cheers!

I don't think there needs to be a goal. You do have to find your own path, however. The end is always unknown so why waste time with mere speculation? Find the path that God leads you to - or your personal spiritual prompting,if you don't like to personify God - and go where it leads you. Don't worry about the rest.

The end of WHAT?

The world?
Your life?

At this point in time, the end is based on my current insight.

With a flash of new insight the "end" could make a 180° turnabout in an instant!

As a Christian I think and feel two important things.
First Jesus says, "Tomorrow is promised to no one."
So I try to live my life as if today were my last on Earth.
But Jesus wants us to enjoy and be productive during our life on Earth too, so I plan, have goals, as if I would live a long time.

There is no goal, the whole meaning of life is found in the trip itself.
