Ok, I have a toy fox terrier who is about 7 months old. She is extremley hyper and just curious about everything she sees. I understand this happens with puppies but GOD she's like over the limit. She won't lay down and just play with one toy, she has to sniff around the room hop on my bed, play with my computer mouse, knock down books on my shelf, go under my bead, bite random things in my room and it just gets extremely annoying. Then when shes done explorign and bored she barks and barks and i love her to death but it's annoying. I love her to death, she's nice on walks, great with other people. Even sometimes when i pet her head she will tun around to nibble my hand which can hurt at times but shes getting better with that. Is there anything I can do? She will probably grow out of it but what should I do in the mean time?

Some dogs are just like that. What do you give her to do? She may just be really bored. Can you imagine what a human child would do if you just gave them one toy to sit and play with? The best thing you can do is play with her more yourself. Not just walks, but actual playing. Try teaching her to fetch, or play a silly game. You can even spend the extra money to get dog puzzles. Fox terriers were bred to dig around for small game, so she will spend a lot of time doing just that, even if she never knows what small game is. That's why she is under your bed, in the bookshelf and anywhere else she can.
As far as nipping your hand, never ever hit her for it. Just keep telling her no. When she does it, stop whatever you are doing and ignore her for a while. If you need to, put her in her kennel. It could be that she doesn't like however it is you are touching her, or that she really would rather play and is trying to get you to play with her. Keep in mind her mouth is like our hands, it is her main way to learn and manipulate things around her.

She may never grow out of it. Just remember you made a commitment, and sometimes that means a little more research than you intended. Small breeds usually are considered adults at 10 months to 1 year, so she is getting close. You should have your answer to if she will grow out of it in about 4 months.

Well, sounds like she's just behaving like a normal puppy! She's a terrier breed and they're generally very active, curious and super-energetic. It will get better as she matures, but she will probably always be fairly high-energy.

She's still a puppy at 7 months, and won't be fully mature for another 6 months at least. That's probably not much consolation right now but maybe it'll help you feel a bit less irritated with her when you remember she's really just a baby still.

Make sure she has plenty of good quality toys, Kong toys are great and you can stuff them with peanut butter or special dog-treat paste which will keep her busy for quite a while. There are a number of toys on the market that are interactive and dispense treats as they're played with, even some that make sounds or 'talk' when your pup moves them around. A pressed rawhide bone is a good chew toy, but you need to supervise your puppy when she's playing with it just to be on the safe side.

Also, this type of dog needs LOTS of regular, vigorous exercise. A tired puppy is usually a good puppy. Make sure she gets at least two long walks or play sessions per day. Also, puppy classes or training classes are a good idea as they'll teach her basic manners, obedience commands and how to 'play nicely' with other dogs.

Hang in there and be patient, give her plenty of exercise and stimulating toys and don't worry - she will eventually grow up and settle down some!

Good luck!

First, she's a puppy. that's what puppies do. They are learning about their environments. Second, she's a terrier -- they are naturally more hyper and curious. Play with her and give her mind stimulating toys. Kong toys are wonderful (they push the toy around and food comes out), that will keep her occupied! lol. A puppy class would help her a lot too. It would give you both goals to reach before the next class. Keep her mind busy learning new things, and she will be so worn out afterwards she'll probably just go to sleep. Hope that helps!

Take her to some obedience classes and teach her some basic commands. Also, this is a terrier... they''re naturally hyper dogs even after they've grown up more

She's not over the limit. Some breeds are considered puppies til they're 2 years old. If you don't discipline and train her now you will go nutso!

sometimes the dog will not grow out of it. my shar pei is now 3 years old and she still chews on my hand any chance she gets along with anything else left on the floor that may look tasty.over time her hyperactivity will decrease some but you would miss it is she changed all together.just be patient, change will come.
