Since there is a HUGE need for nurses right now, I would look into the possibility that there might be forgivable loans out there. These are loans, but the idea is that if you take a job in nursing, they forgive a portion of your loan every year you work. If you plan on a long-term career in the field, you may end up paying nothing. There have long been programs like this for doctors in rural areas or teachers in inner city schools. If you don't come from a needy family and aren't eligible for grants, look at things like work-study, which allows you to work for income, usually on campus.

Don't be too scared off by student loans. They are usually at low rates, and if you take a job which pays well, they are an investment in your education. While you may be able to do better for at least part of your education, don't NOT get an education because you don't want to owe money. That is one of the biggest mistakes people ever make.

fafsa. It is a government grant. You have to be low income though to qualify. good luck
