Well, this one will be hard because do to the jack russel terrier nature, they are VERY hyper active dogs. But, if you have done your research and know what to expect, then, here are some tips to get your parents to give in:

1). Look through your local newspaper and cut out any adds that you see look interested in and show them to your parents. maybe, if you ask them to go see the puppies (or jrt dog), they might let you!

2). Show your parents that you really want a jrt! Start by collected posters, books (and read them too!), pictures, statues, and other jrt stuff!

3). Do some research. Buy a big binder and fill it with jrt information from the internet and pictures too! Also, make a poster that shows (if you were to get a jrt dog) what days you would walk him, what time you would feed him, ect. and show them both to your parents!

All of these things should work! I hope you get a jrt dog!

Show your parents that you can be responsible. If your parents know you for being lazy sometimes, you may have a problem.

You need to show that you can spare time for a pet.
You should also research about the Jack Russel. It's not all about if the dog is cute: diet, grooming, special needs, exercise routine. AND if the Jack Russel is expensive. though that sounds rude, some dogs are very expensive.

But if your respnosible and you research the dog, AND know that your current situation (where you live, any allergies) is okay, then your parents should be okay.

We own a jack and a Rat Terrier, they are great dogs, but they are not for everyone. Do not just get a dog because it is cute, so many of these dogs end up in rescue situations because of this. Think of all the pro and cons to owning these high energy dogs. If you can walk and exercise them a few times a day, also they are very intelligent and have a mind of their own. If you think you can do all that they need, then they will make a great dog for you and your family, otherwise maybe you should look at a different breed

Your parents apparently know that Jack Russel Terriers live up to the name. It needs proper supervision, lots of exercise and obedience training, much more training than is typical. How responsible are you? Are you willing to walk it several times per day? Are you willing to set aside some of your hobbies to play with this dog? Are you prepared to supervise it so that it doesn't destroy the house? If you can convince your parents that you are willing and able, then maybe you stand a chance.

Don't! They are very high energy and need lots of playtime and attention.

Kidding! Well they do..but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get your parents to get one.

Lay out all the pros and cons. Show them how responsible you can be. Maybe find a way to earn some cash toward getting the dog and helping with it's very bills/food and such.

Good luck!

i suggest you first convince them to let you foster care a dog for a few weeks to see how it goes. you go to a animal shelter and say you would like to take care of a dog until he gets adopted.

Show them how responsible you can be in every area you can. Do things they ask you to do without complaining, or better yet, ask what you can do to help out around the house, etc...

Be ready for hard times. Very hard to potty train, extremely energetic, defiant, and most times difficult to train.
