Sounds great! The secret to a stress free party is to keep kids amused with activities. Another great idea I saw at a party my daughter went to, was a plain paper tablecloth, and the kids all decorated it with textas like a big mural. Just take a photo of it, then throw it away. It is sooooooooo exciting to be allowed to draw on the tablecloth when you are 4!!!!!!!
When I was little, my mum (being a teacher) always had a craft table where we had to cut out, staple and decorate our own party hats! At the time I was embarrassed, cause all the other kids had "bought" hats at their parties, but even in high school, kids would tell me they remembered that I had the best parties 'cause making our own hats was fun! Hats could possibly be cheaper than little boxes (if that's an issue)...... just need cardboard to make cones, and stickers, feathers, gems, etc......
Good luck, have fun!

My daughter has her birthday just before Christmas and I did a craft party for her 4th birthday. I had a table to make christmas cards, a table to decorate biscuits with icing and sweets etc, and another table to make a decoration for the tree. All the children really enjoyed themselves and the parents who came all thought it was a brilliant idea, so yes, I would go for it but I would limit the number of guests you have and make sure you have some willing helpers.
Just one more thing, can I come, it sounds great!
Hope your daughter enjoys her birthday Honey.

It all depends on how you approach it. It's probably a good idea to have a theme, and possibly for them to compete in some way, and maybe you could weave a story into it too.
Maybe the box should have a purpose - what are they going to put in it?
Basically it's a great idea. But the children will copy the first response, so if the first response is fab, they'll all think so, but if its 'boring' they will go along with that!
There are lots of good ideas on the party page of an entertainer whose website can ge found at http://www.paradoxtheatre.co.uk
good luck!

Sure doing that would be fun for maybe five to ten minutes but you have to remember that five yr olds have short attention spans. Decorating something would be really cute and i am not saying drop the idea but you will have a huge mess to clean and be ready for something to be damaged with paint and glue. Maybe keep that idea but add some fun and games also. Try slip and slides or Barbies or anything for the little munchins who can not sit still long.
I hope i have helped

It sounds like fun, but make sure you warn parents beforehand so that they don't dress their kids in their best clothes, and have plenty of helpers to give you a hand.
