I've heard great things about Nathan's brand. Everyone I talk to about making hot dogs says this is the most healthiest and tastiest. As for hot dog buns, any of the local store brands are affordable and great tasting. It's the hot dog that makes the taste. :)

Hot dogs make the meal. Try the Hebrew National brand it seems to be healthier. The buns should be fresh, but the taste belongs to the dogs, no (e)nds or butts.

I hear Nathans is really good but they don't sell them where I live. So I would go with Oscar Meyer and Wonder Bread for the buns.

Pick the ones with the least about of fillers. Try and find Vienna 100% beef. Boar's Head is very good. Don't buy the cheap ones because they are full of fillers and taste terrible. Nathan's is good too. I also like Oscar Mayer 100 beef.

Farmer John is better than Nathan's.
If you can't get Farmer John Premium Hot Dogs, go with Nathans.

I follow the Weight Watcher program...and just discovered the Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks. They are VERY tasty and in WW lingo---they only count as 1 point. YEAH! Just last evening, I browned them in a skillet and added some low fat canned baked beans....for a lovely bean and frank supper! Yummo!
