%62? That doesn't sound right. I lived in Utah most of my life (no I'm not Mormon) and I would say around 90% of the people in that state are Mormon; if not more. A lot claim to be "jack Mormons" which means they were baptized Mormon but do not practice it; but eventually they end up becoming practitioners.

No the correct way to ask that question is, What percentage of Mormons LIVE in Utah?

When they say 62%, they mean that when they do a census, that's how many would actually admit to being mormon.

I've heard that around 75% is, but I think it's more. Probably around 80 or 90.
