need? no... but you can if you want. Most animals are very intelligent and underestimated. Some aren't as intelligent, but they can be great pets too.

uh no? an intelligent pet as in dog, will always be there for you though, and will protect and love you forever., but if you don't want or need one, don't bother.

Are you saying that your dog and cat are outsmarting you and giving you a sense of inferiority? Or are you saying it is unethical to have any pet except an earthworm or a tarantula? Please clarify if you really need an answer.
