I am usually liberal on economic issues, but lets really think about this. The wealthy use the least amount of public services, yet we tax them more?

Is it right to tax people more just because they have more to give?

I know when there are tax breaks, they get the biggest break, but is that really reliable considering they have to wait for the break to come along.

It just seems like a really bad deal for rich people

Is there anyone out there that could come up with a legitimate reason as to why rich people should pay more taxes?

If everyone payed the taxes they owed we would be OK
So just shut up and pay your taxes like the rest of us.

it isn't that the rich pay more because they have more it is about equality in percentages and the ratio of income to taxes.

if you only have $100 and pay 30% in taxes...leaving you with $70 to house and feed your family...
while someone else having $100,000 and paying the same percent---leaving $70,000.
the one with more money (percentage wise) did not pay more taxes even though they did (actual dollars)pay a larger amount.
but now higher incomes result in less paid tax (percentage) so the rich keep more while the middle/lower classes pay more.
corporations primarily incorporate to KEEP more money for themselves...not a bad thing IF ALL corporate leaders had a conscience instead of dollar signs in their eyes, but MONEY TALKS and when politicians like being gifted (bought) by rich corporations they keep passing tax breaks for the rich leaving more of a tax load on those that are already over taxed.

When those with money and the power...
cut the benefits of their employees so the CEO can take home a multimillion dollar annual bonus

devalue their employees-it's cheaper to fire someone and hire new than to pay salary increases

refuse to make the minimum wage a viable working wage

refuse to hire full time workers because of the risk of overtime pay

I don't think you should pay less because you make more nor should you pay more because you make less..it is about balance and equality.

So .... Just how did they get to be "rich people". Did they "choose their parents well" was that "fair"?

Why are they rich and I am not? Why is that fair?

If they "earned" their wealth or built it, I have no issues with that. But if they got it from Daddy or built it on top of a massive fortune they got from Daddy, I have a lot of issues with that.

Can you think of a good reason why ALL wealth beyond a certain modest inheritance at the end of any person's life should not be collected by society and redistributed to the general population in the form of free educational opportunities and small business loans at low interest rates?

So, your alternative is to more heavily tax the middle class or the poor?? Or is it to cut services or run the national debt even higher than it now is?

Quite simply, the first rule of taxation is this: Make sure that the taxpayer can afford to pay the tax.
