Toyota or Honda, not Hundai. Hundai's are NOT good cars, especially used ones. You can get about 250,000 miles out of a Honda or Toyota before you start to have problems.

If you get a Hyundai make sure you live near the dealer they are good cars but have the long waranty for a reason. Don't get a Hyundai XG they are nice but all there extras makes it more likely for something to go wrong. Some of the older Sonatas have problems with their power window regulators, the newer you go with Hyundai the better. I would go with an Elantra they have been out for a while and have decent reliabillity starting around 2001. The newest model looks like a Toyota Corolla, so you could have a bit of both if you can afford it. As with most people on here, I'm not an expert but I did work in parts for a Hyundai dealer. Over all I say if you need cheaper go Hyundai, if you have a little more to spend spring for the Toyota.

Hyundai has a great warranty, so if I'm buying a used car, I know the owner took care of it because it was free maintenance for awhile.
Toyota has a good reputation, but much of the cost is for the name. They break down like other cars do.
Of the two, I'd go Hyundai

I HIGHLY recommend the Hyundai Accent. I bought a new one a few months ago. It is priced in the mid teens (excellent price!), get good gas mileage, and drives like a dream!
I honestly don't understand why anyone would want something more expensive.

Look for one with low miles, and get either a Camry or Accord. If you get one of those 2 cars with low milage, you'll be driving it for a long time.

Any chance of talking you into an American Company car? Look at the new Ford's and their safety ratings.
